Let me get this out straight away - I am not a pub guy, however many country pubs get past my pub road block. I have not had a meal here for sometime. I was aware of the very pleasant garden area where on weekends they often put on live music. So on New Year’s Day my wife and I decided to have a relaxed meal in the early evening. I had not realised the menu has been substantially upgraded. The pub favourites are there and much more. I would even say the menu is interesting. Chef Ben has made a difference. He has been there for awhile - I did not realise how much things have changed since the well executed renovation. The outside area was perfect on a balmy evening. The inside dining area is pleasant enough - for my liking the dining room is noisy (like most pubs). I have photographed a selection of our order. I am impressed at the attention to plating even by a busy kitchen. Check out my pics and you will see my point. The pics tell my story. All the dishes were delicious with a special mention for the barramundi which was perfectly cooked. The service was good however the bistro has an odd policy of delivering entrees and mains at the same time. When I questioned this the reply was that is what they do for the garden area. Hmmm. A lovely post script to our evening was chilling out on the chesterfields. Great spot in winter in front of a roaring fire. Unfortunately the Google review app treats the Bundanoon Hotel entry as a hotel so some of the information I could enter is absent. I cannot comment on staying at the hotel. Country pubs are often the centre of social activity for their community. This pub works hard on that score. The Bundanoon Hotel has succeeded in driving over my pub road block.

First we came for dinner, and the place was packed. It took a bit longer than expected but by the high volume of punters we knew and that was acceptable. The food was fresh and hot, so they were just really trying to get everyone fed. The dishes were beyond our expectation with subtle hints of spices well placed and making it even better. After dinner, we went to the place we were supposed to stay, but a mishap made us come back to the Hotel, trying our luck to find an accommodation with little expectations since the place was packed and online booking showed no availability. We're glad we did that. Mark was prompt to say he believed there was a cancellation and that would be our lucky night. And so it was. The room was cosy, clean, the bed linen comfy. Adjustable heater kept us warm at the proper level and noise downstairs was very reasonable (again, it was a busy night) and it became white-noise soon enough. The fact they don't serve breakkie could've been an "down side", but we crossed the train line and found an amazing little cafe with yummy food and great service. win-win Thanks guys, you saved our bacon that might.

Located at 6-18 Erith Street, Bundanoon, New South Wales, Australia 🇩đŸ‡ș We had a really lovely evening at the Bundanoon Hotel. We were quite a large group of 28 people and the staff managed our orders wonderfully. They greeted us warmly and made us feel very welcome. I had the chicken schnitzel and fries and it was cooked deliciously, just the way I like it. The rest of the people in my group enjoyed their meal also. The hotel itself is designed very nicely, very rustic and the fireplace is a lovely touch, especially with the lounge in front. A great place to sit and relax after dinner and have a drink đŸ„ƒ. There’s also a bar at the other end of the hotel from the restaurant along with tables to sit at and a few outside so there’s ample places to sit with friends. There seemed to be quite a few rooms for accommodation, both upstairs and downstairs. Overall, I really liked this hotel and it was a lovely place to have our last meal together before we headed home the next day. I would definitely recommend. Thumbs up!!! 👍👍👍

We had our Christmas dinner last Saturday night, a relatively large table booking. The menu was emailed and everyone had an opportunity to read it before hand. The entree was a choice of two options however on the night the entree just came out without having had a choice of the two. The entree was placed in alternate places and we had to swap if someone didn’t want one or the other.

This wasn’t explained to us, as the menu suggested we had a choice of two entrees. When the entrees did hit the table they were very small and underwhelming. The total cost for entree and main was $47 pp, we knew the cost before hand but after having both the entree and main we wouldn’t pay $20 for the smallest of entrees and $27 for the main as the main was small too, it’s not hard to load a plate up with roasted vegetables.... We had always intended to go back to someone’s house for dessert so we only wanted the entree and main which saved us $8:00 off the original 3 course menu price of $55 pp.

Talking with others I think we were all underwhelmed at the over priced menu for what we actually got and we would have been happy to pay $30-$35 dollars tops, for what we got. I understand that it was a Christmas event but it wasn’t worth $47pp. I wouldn’t book it again for a Christmas dinner next year. If you wanna serve small meals at over priced prices I’m afraid you’ll lose our group for future business if you aren’t careful.

We consist of locals and weekenders and we don’t expect the world, however we do expect value for money and this certainly wasn’t the case. My advice would be review the pricing for special occasions such as Christmas. Just because it has “Christmas” attached to a menu shouldn’t allow the prices to be hijacked.

We love what you are doing to the pub and the renovations but we won’t be taken as fools when it comes to cost and value for money. We consist of Sydney, and local people from various backgrounds/ careers and know what to expect... Hopefully things will improve !!!!

After the nights festivities one of the group stated “we shouldn’t be over charged to pay off their renovation costs”, which I thought was funny but unfortunately that’s kinda how it feels.

We will be back for normal off the menu dinners but please monitor prices and meal sizes. 15 bad reviews and word of mouth isn’t what a small business needs and I must say $17 for two small Apple ciders is a...
