This place is disgusting. I’ve stayed in my fair share of motels but I think this one takes the cake for being the worst. We were booked into room 105 and the entry way (pictured with the kitchen/glass sliding door) was left open and appeared to be a communal room opened to other guests at the motel (specifically the pool area) despite being a private room. The lock to the door was a simple lever with no other locking mechanism. The best way to describe the state of the bedroom area was like a scene out of a human trafficking documentary. It’s important to note that our room also had no working locks apart from the the lever mechanism, and that our room was also the only room that didn’t have a screen door acting as a second form of protection despite being on ground level — which lead us to believe that room 105 used to be the pool room and was since converted into a motel room. Graffiti and what looked like blood (pictured) was smeared onto the walls and carved into the table. The bedding felt dirty and cobwebs were everywhere, not to mention the cabinets were overrun by bugs. I doubt there is a cleaning crew at this hell hole. Half the switches on the bedroom walls weren’t evening there, too bad if I wanted to change the cyclone level wind speeds from the fans. I seriously believe a health and safety inspection is needed for this place. The bathrooms (as pictured) were literally public toilets, from the smell to the appearance — I wouldn’t even dare to walk barefoot in this place because it is literally the origin spot of any and all foot fungus bacteria — the emergency exit sign posted next to the door literally called the room ‘male’ and ‘female’ toilets, not bedrooms. There was no soap, and the toilet sings to you. I felt cleaner on a plane breathing the same air for 8 hours in comparison to stand by the bathroom entrance.

As a party of 5 people, we did not feel safe or comfortable leaving our belongs here while we ventured out for the evening. Especially not after reading reviews of robbery that have occurred at this location.

If there is a positive to any situation it would be that we only stayed here for one night because apparently they ‘don’t do’ refunds. The staff were rude and defensive when we stated that we had two rooms booked, which turned out to be an apartment styled room?? They were also “shocked” to hear about the state of the room when we went and asked for the room to be recleaned, and immediately blacklisted to past guests of the room despite the damages evidently being old.

Overall, the facilities are disgusting and outdated, the environment was dirty and not worth the ‘affordable’ price. DO NOT STAY HERE.

And don’t rely on your travel agent to look after your interest when needing a layover hotel. I would’ve never paid to stay here voluntarily...

After much consternation and disgust I am posting review of Cairns City Sheridan.I had booked this location more than a month in advance to secure a room with self catering kitchenette for us.On arrival in Cairns area I was to learn that the booking had been cancelled so had to reconfirm the same booking.Arrived about 5pm and no staff available at reception so used the arranged code to enter. The room tired over use and a failure to update anything was not the worst thing.Entry to ensure would leave us confronted by detritus on the sink area and shower curtain dripping with mould which was both unsightly and health concern. The kitchenette although available there were issues. No appropriate pots and pans,no microwave safe bowls,no cleaning utilities and oven did not work. The supplied WiFi could not be accessed unless you walked to the Reception area either. The floors sticky with what could be imagined was the left over body fluids of previous users. In short the room was grubby and not what were advised by staff. At this point we contacted the after hours assistance line,Jennifer, located in one of the capitol cities who after almost an hour could not assist us.The only comment was 'talk to reception in the morning' Given our circumstances we had little choice to cautiously bed down here for the night as there was no opportunity to find n alternative at this late hour. It get worse. The next morning Elissa at reception was discourteous, claiming she had not read the reports and said 'what do you expect from me?'I answered that I would be seeking a refund and wanted to speak to the manager/Owner.Apparently he was never there.Over the next month I sought a resolution and was informed that the facility had engaged a cleaning manager, that cleaning staff had skipped town and other excuses Conversations with taxi drivers and bus drivers would reveal a sorry history of the Cairns City Sheridan. They would never stay there. My mobile number was then blocked so I contacted Elissa on another number. She was again rude and discourteous.I contacted the Tourist Offices in Cairns and this facility was not recommended. But it seems the hovel continues. It takes your money and it delivers disappointment.I contacted the Cairns Regional Council who apparently spoke with Elissa.I would recommend that you NEVER...

Be very cautious here. I booked this hotel last minute knowing it got bad reviews but I just needed a bed and aircon for a night so I was willing to tolerate bad conditions. When we first checked in reception was nice. There is on sight parking which is super helpful being in the city. As we opened our room on the third floor the door was already unlocked which was strange but we thought nothing of it at the time. We left for an hour and came back to eat dinner in the room. As we were eating someone tried to twist the door handle but it was locked. My partner went and opened the door but nobody was there. The room was a bit nasty, sticky floors, gross bathroom, it did not feel clean at all. We went to sleep and woke up at 3am to a bright light shining through the room. The door was swung wide open and my car keys and purse were gone and his debit card and all cash on the far table were taken. We immediately checked the carpark and my car was not stolen, praise God. After this happened my partner remembers hearing the click of the lock in the middle of the night but was half asleep so didn't think anything of it but our door was locked. This motel had no chain locks on the door it was just a button lock. Either easy to pick or someone used a key because there was no damage to the door. How scary to think someone came into the room while we were asleep. This motel is not safe, it is not a safe area either. There are no security cameras in that area of the room I was in #312 and they have no footage from the carpark either. Very inconvenient situation now having to wonder if they are going to come to my apartment to break in or try to steal my car. They have my identity, my address, my work address, my car keys, my house keys, credit cards and more information. This is a good lesson to never trust that your stuff is safe even behind locked doors in your site. People are relentless. Unfortunately the hotel and police cannot do anything about this situation so now I am relying on God for His judgment and to turn it all for good. I am praying someone finds my stuff and returns it to me as it has my address and phone number on it. Prayer requests appreciated. Stay safe and be weary of this motel. We can't control these incidences but we can prepare...

My partner and I stayed at this motel for one night and it was, to say the least, a curious experience. First, when we arrived at the parking lot, there were some people with bikes who looked suspicious, which got us off to a bad start. Next, we called the front desk and were assigned a room. When we went to the room, we found someone inside who appeared to be high or drunk in the room we were given. We called again, and this time they gave us a room that was empty. When we got to the room, well, for what we paid, I expected something better. There were a couple of unused condoms in a drawer, the beds and mattresses seemed to be poor quality and quite uncomfortable, and the pillows were too high for my liking. The TV didn't work and showed weird lines, there was hair in the fridge, cockroaches all over the room, the room smelled of smoke, and the smoke alarm was covered with a plastic bag. We accepted all that, and then at 5 a.m., a group of young Aboriginal children were screaming in the pool unsupervised, throwing rocks and pool furniture into it, so we couldn't get much more sleep. We got up early and left. I definitely think there are better options for the price. If there's no other choice, it's acceptable, but it's better to avoid it if you can.
