Upon arrival we were told our campsite was in the "overflow area". On the map it looked ok, a quiet spot (830) with a bit of distance from road for our 1 year old to be a little free and safe.
In reality, it was a let down. Sand/dirt next to road and overflow area entrance/exit and 40 metres from the back of a bakery, cafe and shops with trucks arriving and workers chatting throughout the night.
Paying more for a camp and caravan park for access to facilities and a camp kitchen I decided to leave the Weber at home. A mistake. The camp kitchen is some 650 metres away so pretty much useless and inaccessible to us. A public BBQ is a few hundred metres away so we were left buying a butane gas burner and $3 cartridges just to be able to cook.
Overall, a pleasant area and friendly, professional staff. This was just our experience having paid a premium for an unpowered site when we couldn't really access most facilities we wanted. Would only consider recommending if you are guaranteed not to be in the "overflow area" else you might as well camp at a cheaper patch of...
Read moreWe loved our stay at Reflections Evans Head. The location is stunning and relaxing. It’s a very big and busy park. I recommend staying on the river side of the park because of the views and the access to the shops. It’s only a 5 min walk to the beach along a flat path from the river side. The beach side has no views of the water. We absolutely loved the range at the local shops and never had to get in the car to access food- the old school ice cream/lolly shop is so well priced. A visit to Shark Bay (beach pictured) is a must! It’s a 5 min drive away and we had the whole beach to ourselves mostly during the week days. Plenty of fish to be caught from the river right out the front of the park- we caught black fish from the rock wall and when the tide was low we would walk across the sand and caught plenty of whiting, flathead and shovel nose sharks in the channel.
Only downside is that there are huge trees that drop massive leaves with sticky sap on them constantly. Everywhere we walked we were pulling sticky leaves off our shoes/floor...
