The bad: The aircon in our unit was very noisy. It didn't heat the room adequately either. I suspect it's on the way out. It also blows directly onto the bed it's mounted over, if you happen to be in the single. Kept me awake all night both nights. The WiFi signal is so weak as to be useless. Couldn't stay connected for more than a minute. No idea if it's fast or not, it's unusable. There's nowhere to put things in the bathroom or toilet. No flat surfaces to sit your toiletries on and only a couple of hooks for towels. Nowhere to hang a change of clothes. No hooks or shelves at all in the toilet. No exhaust fan in the toilet either. đł The hot water is very slow to appear, we're talking minutes. When it does arrive, you won't need to mix any cold water in, it's not that hot. Luckily it's warm enough for a good wash. For some reason one side of the double bed gets no bedside table. Other than one small cupboard, there's no places to hang clothes and there is nowhere to sit a suitcase.
The good: Nice big modern TV. A handful of Foxtel channels thrown in, not so many good ones, possibly good if you like sport or old shows. TV has apps for Netflix etc, but WiFi is rubbish. Kitchenette is nice, there's a small fridge, microwave, sink and, jug. There's enough plates, bowls, cups, glasses and cutlery for a couple of people to get by nicely for a few days. The room is modern and clean, with comfortable beds. There's nowhere to sit, however. If you want to watch TV or read a book, you're in bed, which is not so great if your back isn't. There's a breakfast bar with a couple of stools, they're very close together though, you're shoulder to shoulder. The bathroom and toilet are modern and clean. No heating in either, unfortunately.
There is off street parking. It's on the side of the rear lane, behind the rooms, so not exactly secure and not covered, but it is quite close.
The pub does great food, but you can't get breakfast. Luckily there are a few good cafes nearby. There's a large IGA right across the road, if you need groceries. There are two bottle shops across the road as well.
The staff were all very welcoming and also helpful. No complaints at all in that regard, you couldn't ask for better. The hotel is right at the centre of town, so you can't get a...

Off to see our Panthers, Play in Mudgee town, Booked a room in Gulgong, The Prince of Wales we found.
We stayed there once a while ago, A pleasure to be back, A rendezvous with Chelsea, Who came with Fred, her Dad.
Our pub lunch was delicious, The decor so true-blue, Log fire in the corner, I downed a Tooheys New.
Out in the sun we chatted, In a courtyard out the back, The time was getting on, To Mudgee we made tracks.
We parked our cars some distance, From where the game was played, And walked for miles and miles, But less than twenty K's.
We took up our position, The best that we could find, It wasn't great, but let me say, We saw almost every try.
Talk about a thriller, Complacent we were not, Those Raiders, first weren't winning, But they fought against the clock.
Half time came and went, Then kick-off second half, Panthers' lead diminished, Still we were cheering hard.
Last week's game repeated, It went to Extra Time, Raiders' shots at field goal, Went off to the side.
Every fan frenetic, Then Panthers with the ball, Nathan aimed and punted, But bounced off upright tall.
A Raider gathered quickly, Then ran it down the field, And way off in the distance, Their win they surely sealed.
With vocal chords now damaged, We walked back to our cars, The cold air now was freezing, As we trudged through soggy grass.
A battle fought so bravely, So hard to see them lose, On the road back into Gulgong, Our chatter was subdued.
Into bed at Prince of Wales, Country air so quiet and still, Was the ghost of Henry Lawson, Cheering with us on that...
Read moreHorrible woman closing the hotel at the ridiculous time of 10 pm on Easter Sunday. We Walked into the pub at 9pm, she was panicking about having to close at 10pm. She was reluctant to serve us . We were served and she annoyed us on several occasions at our table to leave. Gulgong needs tourists money . Donât be so juvenile as to close every pub early on a public holiday. She said that the police had driven passed the hotel at 9:50pm to see if they had closed. It sounded like rubbish to the patrons of the Prince of Wales hotel. Fire her. Grow up Prince of Wales . We ate there the night before and the service and food even though it took an hour was fabulous. The attitude needs to disappear. Henry Lawson would be horrified. Heâs buried next to my great , great ancestors at Waverley cemetery. This was my first trip to Gulgong , as a first fleeter I was astounded by its preservation but to close its pubs by 10pm is unbelievable on a holiday weekend. Please fix...
