Decent hotel but there’s a few things that need to be better.
The wifi was super crap which was frustrating.
Kitchen was organized very badly. First only like two of the big burners on the left and middle worked properly.
The fridges had a crazy amount of bags in there and left no room at all. It should instead be organized by bins or something, each room/bed gets a specific space in the fridge and a specific pantry spot. This way not everyone is putting their half full bags inside and then there’s no room left for anything else.
The table in the Kitchen is nice sure but it definitely makes the area seem tighter - right when you walk into the kitchen there are people sitting basically in the doorway eating. There’s a good amount of space in the courtyard and common area for people to go there and eat and instead make the dinning table another work bench since that kitchen gets packed super quickly.
The common area had a huge pool table taking up half the room but it costs money which was a little cheeky imo. We’re not at a bar, just make it free, there’s no need to charge people 1$ to play. (It’s free on Saturdays which was the only day we saw people playing it all week. Otherwise it’s a huge space waster.)
The bathrooms next to the kitchen had showers (with sinks) and toilets. If someone was using the showers then there was nowhere to wash hands. They had hand sanitizer but still a little weird.
Room: we stayed in the private room with the double bed. The rooms pillow was actually soo shit we couldn’t even sleep at all the first night. We asked front desk if they had extra pillows and they said no. We literally had to go to Kmart and buy pillows (we were staying a week so needed good sleep). The room was on a street that SO LOUD - we could barely sleep - had to basically close the windows (so hot in room then) because of the constant traffic, including huge trucks and loud motorcycles coming and going all night.
The kitchen was being cleaned so often and they were doing such a good job on it. Kudos to all the cleaners and the staff in general were all very nice.
Location was great, right in front was the 16 tram stop to town, 5 minutes walk was like 4 other tram stops including case you miss the 16 and don’t want to wait 10 minutes for the next one. 5 minutes from a Wollies Metro. Along the way lots of fun bars and restaurants (recommend The Banff for happy hour pints and...
Read moreWiFi is limited to 500 Mo per day, and yes, it's 2020. Beds are disgusting, reeking and my matress was stained with blood. No noise insulation so you are in the middle of a constant party with loud - very loud - music from 7 am to 11pm. And that been said, it's written everywhere that you are not suppose to party after 10pm and not to drink on the premises, but the staff doesn't enforce it. "Private" rooms don't lock (105 for example) so we had constantly people barging in, one in the middle of the night at 3am and one being A STAFF MEMBER with no apologies). We didn't get the room we booked and asked for a few solutions, the staff didn't accommodate us and didn't communicate about the fact that we needed an other room. When asked for a refund because obviously they couldn't accommodate us, the receptionist went in a tantrum, literally yelling at me and started crying that "this is not the way she wants to start her day" and "I ruined it for her", that "I can call booking.com, I am not getting a refund - that's the end of it!"...yeah, true story...NEVER SEEN THAT IN MY LIFE! Didn't even know what to do with her with her tears and yells. I basically told her to stop her drama because I can't talk with a drama queen AND THEN, when I FINALLY got the chance to explain the problem to her, she immediately apologised and gave us the room we actually booked. Bipolarity to it's Apex! Unbelievable. I think she needs either a shrink or at least a good month nerve rest...I am still digesting and honestly even felt guilty even trying to get what I...
Read moreThis place should be avoided at all costs. We booked 4 nights here off the back of good reviews (bizarre how this has any good reviews) and requested a refund after being here for about 4 hours. It was late so we had to stay the first night but only out of necessity. |The place is dark and dingy from the moment you walk in. The communal areas are filthy, clearly most people live in the hostel as there are muddy boots outside most of the doors and mud all over the carpets. |The kitchen is disgusting. The floor was sticky and the windows are covered in a greasy film where they’ve never been cleaned. One of the windows was broken and propped open with a chopping board. They were offering a free bbq that night but after seeing the greasy state of the bbq in the kitchen we quickly decided against it. |Our room had not been cleaned. We found long hairs on the floor and thick dust on the skirting boards along with water leaking from the fridge - which was also dirty. |The communal area is constantly occupied by rude gangs of French people who openly smoke weed and leave cans and bottles lying around. |After we expressed our severe discontent with the place the receptionist didn’t seem overly concerned and wasn’t going to give us a refund for the remaining 3 nights. They did eventually. |The location isn’t great either - it’s a 10-min walk from the tram stop which takes about 25 mins in the first place. |Do yourself a favour and book...
