I used to be a regular here. Nowadays I feel bad every time I walk past the place. Because on a Sunday some weeks ago, a barista lady with blonde hair went out of her way to reject me for no apparent reason, all I said was ‘can I please get nachos and a cappuccino’, and she then made a little scene to show me that she has a boyfriend, and I didn’t ask about that, felt a bit confused. Then as I waited for the coffee I saw her chatting away to her other customer friends near the counter instead of preparing it. So I left before and did not receive it.
She looked a bit like the person I loved a long time ago, but I’m very face-blind, which made me felt really hurt, but this event made me to wonder then if it is her who I waited for, and so I emailed the management, they told me it wasn’t even her. I just feel bad some people would mistreat others without cause, to make them feel hurt like that.
So they have lost me, a regular. I’m not going back because it reminds me of this event.
PS. I haven’t yet in my life experienced a relationship, it’s what I dream of every single day. When a person so much younger than me goes flaunting the fact that they managed to find love where I didn’t, it really hurts, because all I ever experienced in love was rejection - it opened my wounds that go back to my childhood. That I relive every single day regardless. And all I did was order a meal. It...
Read moreI recently visited this place for breakfast/lunch around noon, and unfortunately, my experience was quite underwhelming. Despite the lack of customers, the staff seemed disorganized and chaotic. There were too many people behind the bar doing nothing, which made the atmosphere stressful and confusing for those taking orders at the counter. A young American girl took our order, and she appeared to be barely paying attention. I had to repeat my order about five times, and her chaotic energy did not help the situation.
When our food arrived, I was disappointed. We ordered the smashed avocado and eggs benedict, and both dishes looked very underwhelming for the price. It gave me an instant feeling that eating this would give me some sort of food poisoning. The avocado smash had barely any feta or avocado and looked sad - for a simple dish like this, it was pretty shocking. The eggs benedict was poorly constructed, and one piece of toast had absolutely nothing on top. The bacon was undercooked and oily, making it unappetizing. It seemed like the kitchen staff did not care about the food they were making, and it was very sloppy and disappointing.
Overall, it was a pretty subpar experience both in terms of customer service and food. The restaurant could benefit from a manager to get the place running...
Read moreI have been coming to this coffee shop for awhile but only when I find myself in St Kilda which happens to be often when the bowl's season is on. And that's how it started really going there ignorant about the quality of their coffee making skills. My breakfast consists of coffee and cigarettes and after that it might continue to having something to eat. Plus the odd afternoon sitting outside on a beautiful late afternoon watching the world go past having a coffee. Which I might I have to say is right up there. It takes a lot to make that cup of coffee that will make you go back over and over again. I don't care if you use the best blend or have the best coffee machine if the person behind the machine doesn't love that of what he can create then it all means nothing. But fortunately for me and the rest of the suburb the dude that makes it is a artist. And after having met him I realised why he makes great ale too. That's for another review tho. As far as the food goes I will only say that there is a reason why he's always pretty busy. The reason is if you love what you do then it flows in the quality of it the taste, presentation and imagination of the ingredients that you include. Start with the coffee and let...
