We were blessed to have spent the Christmas break at the Big4 Port Fairy Holiday Park.
Each year comes around and the kids ask where are we going for summer holidays? Our decision is easily made. The Big4 Port Fairy Holiday Park caterers for all age groups including parents.
There are many fun things to do. These include: jumping pillow where all ages of kids come together and have fun freedom to ride bikes and go carts around the park where biking riding skills can be developed the heated pool provides more fun for wet weather in between beach visits the skate/bike park provides a challenging, safe activity the mini golf, indoor play centre for under fives, a movie theatre room that also provides craft activities for kids each morning are all onsite to be used.
And for the parents you ask? Well, if kids are happy and entertained this makes for a relaxing holiday. Yes? Big4 Port Fairy Holiday Park have dinners covered. Local food suppliers provide a wide cultural diverse cuisine each night from pizza to dumplings to thai cuisine to burgers - hassle free take-away dinners, so no driving or organising is required.
The site has great accomodation from powered onsuite and non en-suite sites to cabins that can accomodate couples to families.
Our accomodation was a self contained 2 bedroom 4 bunk, queen bed cabin ideal for our family of four and additional kids friends who decided to stay on after parents departed.
The location is great far enough to avoid crowds and walking distance to beautiful cafes that provide wholesome, fresh food and great coffee. Having been spoilt by Melbourne’s cafe culture we can say that most cafe’s exceed Melbourne standards for quality and choice.
There are bespoke gift and clothing stores supermarket, delicious ice-cream shops all you need for a great holiday. All back dropped by Port Fairy’s historical landmarks and a safe patrolled surfing beach. The recently upgraded Port Fairy rail trail is great for a hike or bike riding just one of the many breathtaking walking tracks and swimming spots that show off unaltered views...
Read moreAbsolutely disgraceful customer service by the front desk staff - who are clearly too old for this job and have lost any handle on customer service delivery and compassion.
We booked 3 nights and upon arrival we had a major problem with opening up our pop top caravan on arrival. The telescopic system had failed and once it was half way up it wouldn’t go further, and we could not bring it back down to it’s closed position.
This meant it was a towable insurance claim.
Our holiday, which was to take us onward to Robe and Victor Harbour SA was over, and we had to find alternative accomodation in Warrnambool for the 3 nights at a premium price until a tow truck could remove our van safely back to Geelong.
Not only did the couple at reception charge us for a full 3 nights, they also threatened us in a very mean and I compassionate way with additional charges if the van could not be moved off the site.
This was knowing full well of our situation and the insurance company waiting for a tow truck company to be available and our holiday we worked so hard for with our new van now over on the first day of travel.
Without using a single KW of electricity, hot shower water or any of the facilities, this couple who possibly manage the park had zero compassion and treated my wife like absolute rubbish.
Cold hearted and no care in the world for our circumstances. Will never stay here again and I recommend others consider the other park in town because this experience was one of the worst ever imagined.
This complaint has also been sent to Big 4 national office for further...
Read moreThe camp site facilities are good but the accommodation is incredibly dated. On a more serious issue, we had friends who were also staying here visit us after dinner for the kids to play together. They were in one bedroom while we stayed in the living area. When it was time to leave the door wouldn't open. The handle was damaged and had come off its bearings. It took over 40 minutes to get the door open while the camp manager didn't seem to appreciate the serious nature of the issue. He was fumbling about trying to open windows on a different bedroom. We were left trying to pacify 5 kids some of whom were completely traumatized. The manager did make sure he took the full outstanding bill for our stay that evening despite having 2 days left in our stay. Don't expect any sort of customer service if you stay here, you are just money to these guys.
To reply to you in your reply. The way I spoke to the tradesman was a direct response to his assertion that there was no issue and his time had been wasted. 40 minutes of 5 people attempting to fix the door may well have fixed the poorly maintained door. My review is a factual representation of what happened. Feel free to contact the two ladies who were staying in the cabin next to us ( you should have their details as they had to deal with the front desk as their cabin door wouldn't open on 2 separate occasions) who witnessed the foul mouthed attack from the tradesman. To quote them " If he spoke to me like that I would have swung for him" Money...
