Visited this dive for the second time on Friday December 18th with mates. Upon entering we were immediately greeted by a belligerent drunk professing to be the owner. Slurring his words and swaying he exuded some serious wee man energy of the kind that's no doubt seen him chucked out of many a pub himself. Anyway, he demanded ID from everyone, not unreasonable though note that the youngest of us is 35 years old, but by the time it took us to dig for our ID's the situation had escalated and he demanded we leave immediately. All this because...? Well we're not entirely sure as it all happened within seconds of entering the door. Although the entire incident was witnessed by two of the local constabulary it appeared as though 'local' was the operative word that evening and all I got in response to my surprised exclamation was a shrug of the shoulders. Though to be fair they did catch up with us further down the street in an attempt to smooth things over. For the record my first visit earlier in the year wasn't much better, Port Fairy has plenty of great places to eat and drink but The Victoria Hotel is an...
Read moreSunday 12 June 2016. Part of a group of 25 people. When no-one would claim an order (because it was not ours),The waiter threw the plate of food on the table saying 'you sort it out!' ..when we complained, the Manager told us to 'calm down! you speak too loud, I'm calling the police..get out of the hotel'. Some of the party who did not receive their meals, were not refunded. When we rang the Police, they said he had the right to evict anybody without having to justify why? Would not recommend this establishment if you do not wish to be verbally abused and sworn at by the Manager. If anybody before has been treated in this fashion, please notify the Warrnambool Police, as they were not interested in the 25 witnesses who were the butt of the managers bad behaviour. The one Star is for the young female waitress and chefs who we could see were appalled at what...
Read moreVisited this hotel recently and found the staff to be very pleasant. That was until the barman with the long "Keanu Reeves" style haircut came along. As I was playing the lucky ticket machine with some friends, having a few laughs etc, the lucky ticket machine ran out of tickets so we politely asked for assistance. You would think this wouldn't be a major task but apparently for "Mr Reeves", this was a major hassle. The poor bloke had to put his beer down (RSA?) and leave his mates at the bar to attend to his paid duties. At this point he was very rude and was clearly in a huff as he performed his task . Based on his level of enthusiasm we left the premises only to be abused by said staff member as he stood outside with his mates having a smoke. Way to go champ, perhaps you should look for a new job as clearly customer service is far...
