Old world charm with modern pleasures. Open plan living with a step up sleeping area was the perfect place for my partner and I to enjoy just ourselves. Our cosy but spacious cottage, warmed by a fireplace to snuggle up in front of, had everything we needed and more. If it wasn't for all the wonderful food places in town to explore... We could have just happily stayed inside for the whole three days and cooked meals in the kitchenette or bbq on the balcony that overlooked the farm with animals you are welcomed to interact with. Outside the front door is a private manicured garden for guests with plenty seating to enjoy the serenity or play an oversized game of chess. The bath was important to me which was wonderful and I was so happy about the abundance of my favourite brand shampoo and conditioner. All the little touches are just too many to mention but so appreciated. To name a few, hand written notes, fresh picked flowers and foliage, nice linen and extra pillows and blankets, extra everything. I will be honest I was looking for a box a tissues. We are...
Read moreWe stayed in the country house. Considering the price of $370 a night, I expected something in better condition. The kitchen window is being eaten by termites, and there is vegetation growing inside the second bathroom window. There are also multiple cracked windows, and a floorboard that couldn’t bear weight when I stepped on it, presumably because termites had eaten the joists too. The paint on the ceiling is completely peeling. ||To make matters worse, the shower lacked privacy because the blind left me exposed to the outside world. I had to strategically place a towel to avoid being exposed while showering.||Overall, this place is less quaint and more of a safety hazard. The country house needs a lot of work before it’s habitable. I can’t comment on the other rooms, they look a little newer, at least on the outside. The price per night implies a certain level of luxury, but this house doesn’t quite match the condition of the place. ||The gardens and outdoor area are quite lovely, so we spent a lot of time out there, we were lucky with...
Read moreThere are five cottages of different sizes in this rural setting and we stayed in number 3. It's a cute cottage with rather dated furnishings, but there are lovely outdoor spaces to sit. It's basically a two-roomed space with an L-shaped bedroom/living room/kitchen and a rather oversized bathroom for the size of the small cottage. We weren't adjacent to the road but we could still hear the traffic in the morning (and we live on the South Circular in London!)||||||The bathroom has both a spa bath, which would take about an hour and a half to fill if used, and an unenclosed shower which doesn't really drained very well so the whole floor ends up soaking wet. There's also only a tiny shelf above the sink to put any toiletries, which is difficult when you're travelling.|||| One other thing worth mentioning is that there are hardly any sockets so we ended up having to put a-our phones in the bathroom to charge, which really...
