TL:DR = Great place for 3 adult guests, 15min drive to Canberra and food, if staying with 2 cars, 1 car has to be parked a bit away from the motel. Not over the top luxurious, but lot more better than a tiny hotel.
The rooms for 3 people are so spacious -- we picked the room that had a queen and then one single. The couch is a 2 seater, so it's not recommended to use as a place to sleep for an adult. One person said the mattress was too firm, but the other two were okay with it. Cupboard in the room comes with extra pillows and blanket.
Room came with quiet running air-con, which we used to warm up the room. Surprisingly quiet (I couldn't hear any of the guests next door, even the ones that had young kids), and located in a quiet area even though it was next to a main road.
Thankful for the microwave -- as most hotels don't have that option. We didn't explore seated restaurant options, but there was a Woolworths, Maccas, Hungry Jacks, and a KFC within driving distance.
Everything in the bathroom was well maintained, and serviced accordingly upon our request. Staff that served us upon check in and check out were really friendly and helpful. The staff over the phone were happy to answer all our questions.
One thing to definitely prepare for is the parking -- our group had 2 vehicles, so that meant one car had to be parked across the road, among residential spaces, as it was strictly one car park space per room. One night, there was a car that took up two spaces, as they had parked over one of the spaces that was next to the smoking area.
Overall, I had a great stay here! Definitely coming back next time I head down to Canberra, or even a stop...
Read moreGreat experience from the first phone call to make a booking...good communication from confirmation of the booking to thank you for staying email after leaving...lovely people. Super super spotlessly clean. I was given a renovated deluxe room on the ground floor with lovely comfortable bed and a 2 seat couch and a table with chairs and still plenty of room to move, very comfortable stay for six nights. Lovely big renovated bathroom, rainwater shower with great pressure, water was lovely and hot, big towels and lovely high quality toiletries. Kitchen area with full sized fridge/freezer and microwave so could get some groceries in and save having to buy restaurant food every day. Note in drawer with toaster that hotplate/pots/pans available on request...I didn't take that up as the microwave was sufficient for what I wanted to heat up but it's a good option to have. NBN and Foxtel TV included. Great location, quiet even though on corner with Canberra Avenue, easy access to the ACT and surrounds and close to the shops and town centre. Close enough that I walked into town the day I arrived to check out where things were, probably less than 15 minute walk in and definitely not hurrying. Hamilton's Queanbeyan will be first choice if I need to book accommodation in...
Read moreI arrived unannounced a couple of weeks ago and was told by Greg the manager that all the rooms were taken, and that I would have a hard time finding a vacancy anywhere in the area or in Canberra for that matter. There was a parliament thing happening and all the media circus was in town apparently. I weighed my options and decided that sleeping in the car was OK by me. I asked Greg where I could go without getting a torch in the window by the local cops and he was completely against my idea. He said he might be able to find something but it might cost $150 and would I be OK with that. I agreed and he vanished for a few minutes. Came back and said he now had a room I could use. Not only did I get a large family sized room but he also dropped the price to $125 for the night and offered to reserve the room for the following night if I needed it. Excellent service and caring for a customer. My deepest gratitude for getting me out of a sticky situation. The room itself was very comfortable and had all the facilities expected these days from a good quality motel. When I need to book a motel near Canberra again, it will be...
