Update Jan. 2025 With new owners, there are new chefs and a new menu, and new impressions. Really miss the previous kitchen team, their food, menu and warm personable personalities. Had a curry on a Wednesday and the rice was really undercooked and the meal underwhelming. For a Wednesday special, that's very unfortunate. Had a great steak another day though, which was necessary at at that price point. Although we still love their outdoor space and like how they've refreshed the place, and that it's so close to home, we now rarely go and miss having a great home joint! There's no motivation for us to go there anymore. Lowering my rating from 5 stars to 3.

....... Old review - no longer valid but will keep it here nevertheless.

We're Botany locals and have had meals at all hotels in the area but the last half year or so, we only come here. We love the big beer garden, the relaxed atmosphere and the friendly staff here! They're all particularly sweet to our 6 year old son which makes both him and us feel great!!! The chefs'are awesome, super nice, also fantastic with our boy who really likes them and they make amazing food!!! Our favorites are definately the steaks and the Sunday roast pork dinner and our son always goes for the kids cheeseburger without sauce that includes an ice cream for dessert! Food is always cooked to perfection!!!!!!! Love...

We went to the pub to have lunch on Wednesday, we were very disappointed with the service of one male staff. We had a few times good experience dining there before, however this time a middle aged man talked to us very rudely, said that "You just want cheap food, don't come back!" We ordered 5 sets of lunch special plus beer, but he wanted us to order more drinks which we don't like. Definitely, we are not going back as the man so rude to the customers that we never experienced before!

Reply to the owner, Please refer to your menu either hard copy or online. It is clearly said on the menu $18 Rump Steaks for Wed for Weekly Specials and it is $16 with any Drink Purchase. I have explained this to your young staff, " You can charge me more." You as the owner suddenly jumped in and forced us to buy drinks. You were very rude to us and said "You just want cheap and don't come back". We didn't say we were Chinese. We are Australians and we fully understood your staff and you well, so it can tell from your response that you are racism. Your attitude was so bad so it ruined our family lunch. If your service was good, we would buy...

I had dinner there, order a steak with mash and vegetables, the steak look like it was cooked on a old, not clean pan? Mash potato was fake, from Coles, add water powder packet, was not even the real deal, but a budget cheap mash, but they expect full price? Go elsewhere.

...Yes you do make fake mash, it tasted the same as add water from Coles, how do I know? 3 military personnel that was there with me, knew straight away it was fake mash. cause that's what we get in the military, your caught out, now your probably embarrassed, and Lie to discredit me. so let me guess, your now your going to make real mash? after being called out.. oh maybe your going to serve it to white people but the brown skin won't know, so they get the fake mash.. is why we didn't even finish the mash on...

I actually really love this pub and the beer garden / friendly bar staff. However the food is progressively getting worse. A year ago it was pretty decent, they changed the menu it was terrible + worst roast I’ve ever tried. They have recently changed the menu again so we felt optimistic and decided to give it another go Will not be eating here again when the food is this bad and the other pubs in the area are decent for food. Picture: ‘Boscaiola schnitty’ - the sauce was watery oil (wheres the cream sauce) and the bacon was literally bacon bits from the supermarket with the presentation of dog food. V disappointed with their food game.

Very cool place to stay. It was originally built in 1880 and has a classic feel but has been maintained well. A comfortable bar and beer garden is below the rooms and the food was decent. The room was small but adequate, the bed comfortable and we had everything we required for a single night before a quick ride to the Sydney airport the following morning.
