Stayed two nights, both during rainy weather, first night the window would not close leaving rain and wind to enter as well as traffic noise. Second “night” the door jamb on balcony door leaked like a shower head, causing the floor to become almost fully flooded by the time we left the room. In response the manager gave us towels to soak up the water and very little help otherwise. After asking for a refund we were told that we would receive one as long as we left, at 7:30 pm.... when other accommodations in the area were unavailable. The manager told us this issue had been happening for the last four years! BUT WAIT as I am writing this the lights in the new room we had just been moved into have blown! We understand that weather conditions do factor into this but it is no excuse for poor hospitality and a general lack of understanding of guest needs let alone basic upkeep. I would not recommend this place for anyone looking to have a solid roof over their head for the night.

Was unclean. Floor is sticky, doesn't feel mopped or wiped. There are stains on the pillows and on doona, which had no covers. Shower head is duct taped on the wall. Fridge is dirty, tea towel hasnt been changed in possibly years. Teas aren't in wrappers. I am sure you will rethink your tea 2 choice. The road outside is loud, walls aren't sound proof. Windows are made of perspex and cracked and dirty. Do not seal properly or stay open. And therefore myself and my guest could not sleep. There is no air conditioning and the fan sounds like it will fall off and kill you. There are markings on the wall. No spare toilet paper. Other people's hair was found in the bed, and a pubic hair was found on toilet roll holders. This raises questions as to whether the sheets are clean. There is no microwave or hairdryer as advertised and there are markings on the wall. The bin is also filthy. This place should not cost $120 bucks for two adults.

Newtown Budget is my second home. I am a regular resident every few weeks for work (staying for sometimes weeks at a time), and this by far is one of my favourite places to stay. Staff are extremely welcoming, and the room pricing is great value. The cleanliness overall is brilliant, and the housekeeping staff are amazing at their job. Super close to so many great locations and public transport options are perfect. Also, rather close to Sydney Airport, which is even better. I highly recommend staying here to any of my friends and family who decide to come and visit Sydney.

Its reasonable to expect budget when booking a room in a motel in Sydney for under $120 and budget it was. Tiny room and tiny bathroom. Not a lot of friendliness and help from the guy who checked us in but all good. Room was neat and there were some provisions of tea and coffee which was nice. TV in an awkward spot in the corner and no lounge to sit on, due to the tiny room I guess. Maybe the tv should have been placed where the massive mirror on the wall is? Our room looked out on to a dark alley and dirty roof so curtain remained closed. But it’s in a great location and yep it’s a good price if you are needing somewhere cheap and reliable. Not sure I would bother to go back. Oh and the power points on the walls may need some attention before something...
