> Nice and helpful staff, Amenities available, Street parking, Better to book in advance, Kids and Vegeterian menus, Wheelchair friendly, BYO drink, >> Fantastic! Fiery Feast and fun at Ichioku Teppanyaki (Japanese cuisine). If you're looking for more than just a meal, Ichioku Teppanyaki delivers an unforgettable dining experience. From the moment you're seated around the hot plate, you know you're in for a treat. The sizzling sounds and enticing aromas of the meat and vegetables being expertly cooked right before your eyes are just the beginning. What truly sets Ichioku apart is the interactive and entertaining approach of the chefs. It wasn't just about watching delicious food being prepared; it was a performance! The skillful knife work and, yes, the playful bursts of fire, added an exciting dimension to the meal. It's not every day you get dinner and a show! Beyond the culinary theatrics, the staff at Ichioku were genuinely lovely. They were attentive and went the extra mile to make the experience fun, even engaging us in playful interactions with bowls – a delightful and unexpected touch that added to the lively atmosphere. The joy of watching fresh ingredients transform into flavorful dishes on the hot plate is undeniable. Each bite of the perfectly cooked meat and vibrant vegetables was a testament to the freshness and skill on display. Ichioku isn't just a restaurant; it's an event. It's perfect for a fun night out with friends or family and specially kids, offering delicious food and a healthy dose of entertainment. If you appreciate skillful cooking, engaging service, and a bit of fiery excitement, Ichioku Teppanyaki is a must-try in heart of Newtown. You're guaranteed to leave with a full stomach and a smile on your face.

The best thing about this place really is the service and entertainment. They really make an effort to provide a fun and enjoyable experience for customers. Has become our new fave spot to celebrate bdays. The kids love it... The food is good and very tasty my only comment is the portions are very small, you seriously get such tiny bits of meat and chicken its not quite enough. We had the seafood and meat option which i think is $47pp and if it wasnt for the kids not finishing their rice I might need a snack after dinner Lol. Overall it's fine for what it is, we have been to another place which was actually more expensive but the experience wasnt the same I found Ichioku to be much friendlier and more fun in general which to me is the whole point of visiting a Teppanyaki restaurant.

At first I was hesitant when my friends suggested at teppanyaki restaurant. Those feelings were soon dispelled when I walked into the doors. Wow, what an opening! I was captivated from the start! Yum! The lovely gentleman was both professional and entertaining. If I’m doubt for a first date or an anniversary I suggest such a place. Delight is an understatement. Next time you are pondering where to go for dinner, ponder no further than this restaurant. The manager even allowed us to stay after the booking for Soju and even had some with us. A lot better than any kebab or Turkish restaurant I have been to! Gozleme pails in comparison!!

I recently had the pleasure of dining at Ichioku, and the highlight of the evening was without a doubt the incredible performance and culinary mastery of Chef Wunna. From the moment he stepped behind the teppan grill, it was clear we were in for more than just a meal — we were about to witness a show.

Chef Wunna’s precision, flair, and sense of humor brought the entire table to life. His knife skills were mesmerizing, and his timing impeccable — whether it was juggling eggs, creating flaming onion volcanoes, or flipping bites of food perfectly into waiting mouths, he did it all with effortless charm.

But beyond the theatrics, what truly stood out was the quality of the food. Every dish he prepared — from tender Wagyu beef and perfectly grilled scallops to the savory fried rice — was cooked to absolute perfection. You could tell he genuinely cared about both the experience and the flavor.

Chef Wunna managed to strike that rare balance between entertainment and culinary excellence. It wasn’t just dinner — it was an experience I’d gladly return for again and again.

If you’re planning a visit to Ichioku, be sure to ask for Chef Wunna. He’ll leave you with a full stomach, a smile on your face, and a new appreciation for the art...

Atrocious value for money. Unremarkable food and a underwhelming vibe overall. We ordered the standard “sets” of seafood & chicken/beef. I’ve eaten at plenty of teppanyaki places and had some expectations in relation to the type and size of meal we’d get, but I was bitterly disappointed when I saw the tray come out with the ingredients and there was the equivalent of 6-7 sugar cube sized pieces of meat! There wouldn’t have been 80g of meat in total ( I’m being generous ). Chef made a point of letting us know prior to ordering, that the servings were small ( how small could they possibly be we thought? ). With the benefit of hindsight, it’s obviously a consistent issue this restaurant encounters seeing they basically forewarn you when you order. The food was unremarkable, ok enough, but certainly nothing to write home about. Soft drinks we received were almost flat. Bitterly disappointing experience overall - offensive actually. Owners need to have a good hard think about their value proposition. Will definitely be telling everyone I can to give this place an...
