Beautiful spot in Strahan to spend a couple of days or even longer. Less than 5 mins walk to the IGA and a little further down the hill to the town center (The Ship That Never Was, World Heritage Cruises, etc). Paul and Sharon are excellent, friendly hosts and run a great operation. They recently installed air con in the cabins which was appreciated during a Tasmanian heat wave. The guest laundry was convenient and the guest BBQ was great to cook dinner on. Definitely stay here while in the area and support a locally-owned and operated business, you won’t be disappointed!

A lovely local place to stay the night in a 2 bedroom apartment for 4 adults. The owners were lovely to accommodate us arriving quite late after a day of exploring Tassie. Strahan is a quiet sleepy coastal town so make use of the fully equipped kitchen or be sure to arrive and dine before everything closes by 8pm sharp. It was thoughtful of the owner to run the heater ahead of our arrival so the apartment was warm and toasty on our arrival. Roomy, spacious and clean - would recommend.

Can't give enough praise for the owners of Castaway Holiday Apartments for their professional and warm service, attention to detail and the quality of their apartments. |Cottage 1, where we stayed for two nights, was a spacious 2 bedroom cottage with fully equipped kitchen - every thing was immaculately clean. Comfortable bedding (the electric blanket was much appreciated on the cold nights), mattress and pillows, as well as comfortable couches (with cushions) in the living area, a well thought out kitchen and bathroom, down to having a shower chair AND a non-slip rubber mat for the shower in the bathroom - this really impressed this elderly lady and husband. So few places have thought about the safety of elderly or disabled guests, to provide these aids without guests having to request them. |The attention to the little details, such as a cloth shopping bag hanging in the kitchen for guests to use when shopping at the IGA, an effective heater in the living area that could warm the entire cottage, a 3 switch ceiling fitting in the bathroom which controlled the light, a heat lamp and a separate exhaust fan, etc., shows how much thought has gone into furnishing the cottages.|There is a guest laundry on site - with coin operated washing machine and dryer which use gold coins (and far cheaper than that available at the motel in which we stayed for 4 nights in Launceston, with these owners donating a portion of that small charge to the RFDS......bravo!). You are good people. |The location is brilliant - walking distance to the good IGA store and the Esplanade where the boats, hotels, restaurants, etc., are located. |Strahan, on Macquarie Harbour with the Gordon River entering it, is beautiful and finding such wonderful accommodation made this our favourite place when touring Tasmania this month. Hearing the birds every morning as we woke was delightful. |Thank you again to the owners. We will definitely be recommending your cottages to friends/relatives who may be thinking of...

We had an absolutely outstanding experience staying at Castaway Holiday Apartments, and cannot speak highly enough of our hosts, Paul and Sharon. From the moment we arrived, we felt incredibly welcome and well looked after.

The location is great, just meters from the local IGA, which made everything super convenient. Whether we were heading out to explore or just grabbing a few groceries, everything we needed was right there.

The apartment itself was immaculate – spotlessly clean and maintained to the highest standard. Every detail was considered, and we were genuinely impressed by how well-facilitated the space was. From a fully equipped kitchen to comfortable bedding and thoughtful touches throughout, it had everything we could have hoped for.

What really made our stay exceptional, though, was the hospitality and local knowledge of Paul and Sharon. Their warmth, friendliness, and genuine care for their guests were evident in everything they did. They provided us with fantastic recommendations on local sights and activities – each one spot-on – helping us make the most of our time in the area.

If you're heading to Strahan, do yourself a favor and stay at Castaway Holiday Apartments. It’s a true gem, run by two wonderful people who clearly love what they do. We’ll absolutely be back – and recommending it to all our...

We arrived at Strahan in miserable weather after a long 5hour drive. Our 2N stay at Castaway allayed our dampened spirits of the bad weather affecting our plans there. The apartment was very clean and had all the essentials (and more) for self-catering. There was good water pressure for hot showers which we welcomed, hailing from tropical Singapore. A heater in the living room and electric blankets kept us warm from the cold. The surrounding area was very peaceful and quiet and we could get the rest we needed. The owners have done a wonderful job with the upkeep of the apartments and we recommend staying there if ever you are in Strahan.

We also took advantage of the 10% discount off tickets for the World Heritage Cruises (which you can get if you stay at Castaways and write them directly to indicate your interest). Upon our checkout, our host was kind to suggest places we could stop for a visit. We took his advice and spent time at Nelson Falls and The Wall along the drive back to Hobart. We genuinely...
