Econo Lodge Border Gateway Wodonga — Hotel in West Wodonga

I didn't really want to give 5 stars so that i could gatekeep his motel, but the owner Duncan and the motel are so nice I felt compelled to tell everyone.

I have been a Salesman on the road for the best part of 26 years and after staying here ( room 15 to be precise) this is heads and shoulders above others... the room was immaculate ( built late last year) and obviously styled by a designer.

The Bed OMG - it was that good that i had to enquire on check out where to buy it, and Duncan the owner being the consummate professional was organized, and had the details of how to do just that!

Bathrooms are amazing and had all soaps shampoos and conditioners, beautiful little kitchen with Microwave. But here's the real kicker for us - its dog friendly!! 🐕🐶 A great space for the doggies to mooch and 💩😂...

The pool 🏊🏼‍♂️was fresh and clean although not heated was certainly warm enough for a dip - although a grab rail to exit and enter would be a welcome addition, this was a minor issue.

All in all I will not be staying any where else in Albury/Wodonga on my work travels and the wife was so stoked she wants to go for a next ended chill out week holiday !

Do yourself a favor and stay here - you wont be disappointed - but book ahead - this wont stay a secret for long! 10 outta 5...

Pros|Super friendly, helpful reception lady.|Nicely decorated room, comfy bed, good bathroom.|We had dinner at the tavern across the road which was yummy.||Cons|I knew before booking that this was a pet friendly hotel but the reviews were excellent so I thought I would give it a go.|The night we stayed 3 of the rooms had dogs staying (4 dogs in total). 2 of the dogs had an altercation which wasn't very pleasant.|Our room had dog hair on the carpet and the lounge was covered in hair and had stains on it. Needless to say I kept my thongs on and didn't use the lounge.|I am sure plenty of animals have accidents inside and sleep on the beds and lounges... I don't want to think about it, yuk !|There must also be cases of dogs barking at ungodly hours and keeping other guests awake I imagine.|||I know you are catering to an ever growing need for pet friendly accommodation but how about reserving a few rooms for non pet...

We were very impressed with our room for our overnight stay. It was simple in its fit-out, but extremely comfortable, clean and they’d thought of everything - large bathroom with excellent wash, shampoo, hairdryer, wardrobe, ironing board and iron, air conditioning/heating, tv, microwave, tea/coffee facilities (and biscuits), plus a mini fridge/freezer for longer stays, full length mirror, pull-out magnifying mirror in bathroom - the bed was really comfortable, including all the pillows and we had a great nights sleep. The couch, table and chairs also clean and comfortable- even the curtains were all intact and working. For a small motel at this price, this is not usually the case - but we were really satisfied and impressed with everything.

Even the person at reception was welcoming and friendly. Would definitely stay here again and highly recommend.
