I stayed at the hotel with my partner and our dog last autumn for a few nights in celebration of my birthday. It wasn't the best experience due to many reasons.
To begin with, there was construction right outside the window starting at 7 AM. We reported this to the reception, but they brushed it off with "we can't do anything about that". They didn't really care so they didn't offer anything, not even an apology and wouldn't give us another room on the other side.
We stayed in a period of time where restrictions due to the pandemic were more relaxed, but still I was shocked at the state of the room upon checking in. There were mysterious stains on the decorative pillows as well as on the curtains, one of the walls looked completely dirty. I found someone else's used socks in the wardrobe, together with quite a lot of dust in the wardrobe, on the light switch... everywhere. We were given a new pillow after we complained but still not the standard I would expect. After this experience, I spent the first 30 minutes disinfecting the room, considering that we were still in the middle of a pandemic.
The spa area is huge and spacious; however, it was a bit shocking that even though there were restrictions because of Covid-19, there was no system in place for managing how many people are in the spa at the same time and absolutely no disinfectant available in the spa area.
It was very hard to get vegan / vegetarian food although we informed the hotel about our dietary preferences when we booked. Most of the staff seemed annoyed by our special wishes. There was no hygiene concept for the buffet either, no masks required, and everyone could go in at the same time. I even witnessed someone sneezing at / on the buffet and it was an awful feeling.
In spite of all negative points, I want to mention that we were impressed with Csaba and Walter's positive attitude and friendliness and they contributed a great deal to our holiday not being a total failure.
Still, I wouldn't book this hotel again as they are definitely overpriced for the quality they offer. I forwarded all these comments in the form provided by the hotel, but there was of course...
Read morewhat stands out: strong wifi and one EV charger. thou a regular power socket for the parking spot would suffice if you stay for two nights. parking costs extra. the charge was free of charge.
the spa has a decent size with several different saunas. the recliner are quickly occupied by towels and other less valuable goodies: hence it’s custom to block instead of actually using the recliner. no bathrobe in room. just couple of extra towels.
breakfast buffet is decent thou the set up is weird: people need to squeeze in a room where most items re set in the back of the presenting table.
one bottle of water in the room is complimentary. TV screen is tiny and far away from the bed. bring you spy glasses.
they dinner and breakfast room has a sign that states 'please wait to be seated'. but if you wait there for seating at breakfast; you'll stay for hours as no one of the staff approaches you. they assume you sit at the same table you sat the dinner before. even if you haven't had dinner. hence; they assume you should know even if you can't have that knowledge.
I asked for a to-go cup of coffee at breakfast. they don’t offer that. weird. they gave me a larger cup instead and asked me to pour coffee in there myself. obviously not a process for them.
the Alpenhaus is ok for a couple of nights but never feels like a welcomed guest. you are just filling a process they came up with.
you buy mostly the location as it’s close to...
Read moreEverything was excellent except the staff at the restaurant. They had very bad attitude towards us for absolutely no reason (maybe because we’re Muslims?). We went to reserve a dinner for one night at the hotel and they insisted on the table in front of the entrance and told us we can’t reserve any other table (very bad placement with no view). Anyway, we agreed to sit since it was fully booked. The staff gave us a German menu and kept ignoring us for wanting an English menu until one of the staff offered to help. However, the next day we went for breakfast at 7:30 am (so early and the restaurant was empty), and they had the audacity to tell us to sit in the same table we sat at dinner because other tables are reserved?? Since when do you reserve a table for breakfast? especially since it’s part of our package! And only after a very long argument they agreed to change the table to another one they selected. There was no “option” for us to choose from. Everything was already chosen and we had to just agree with everything they offered! Overall I’ve never experienced such a service in any other hotel I’ve been to!! Never...
