Stayed here for 5 nights in December 2023 - a decidedly disappointing hotel experience, with things only getting worse with each day.
Location: practically nowhere - not in suburbia, but not in the city either, even though you're less than 3kms away from Schoenbrunn. Useless if you want to do any sort of sightseeing in Vienna on foot or by using convenient forms of urban transport. Taxi ride downtown would set you back a handsome 20 EUR in one direction - so it's either that, or you'll need to choose between a combination of at least two different buses, subway or tramway lines that will all take you there - eventually. Ambience: suffice it to say, the insignifcant shopping mall next door was better decorated for Christmas than the hotel. Nice views from the upper floors but that's about it. Rooms are a tight squeeze and look terribly tired and dated. Oh, and - those sliding bathroom doors need to be outlawed. If I wanted to slide rocks around for privacy, I'd probably still be living in a cave. Housekeeping: asked on numerous occasions to have room serviced before 2pm. Only got lucky with that request (and actually having the room cleaned) one single time for the whole duration of the stay - although, to be honest, it wasn't much use at all. Ladies weren't bothered one bit either way. Cleanliness: Atrocious! Unkempt common spaces with dirty carpets and dusty windowsills ubiquitous - rooms, reception, common spaces, restaurant, elevators... The restaurant on floor 22 was an absolutely sordid affair. Housekeeping is not even trying to be thorough, as described above. Breakfast: OKish in terms of variety as long as you get there early. Be there at 9.30 and you'll be greeted with leftovers. What's worse is that the restaurant is such a miserable place, with tired furnishings and visible muckiness everywhere you look. Case in point: multiple large shards of broken glass (!!!) lay all around a table at breakfast one morning - presumably from the juice that had gotten knocked over some time ago since the floor still bore a nice dried up stain across it. Seems like staff hadn't noticed or simply didn't care - far too busy gossiping. Facilities: the bathroom boasted a broken off syphon tile simply laid aside, not to mention the mold buildup here and there. No room service over the weekend so the doner across the street is your only hope if you're hungry. No soap in the restaurant toilets (!?). And to top it all off - the worst newfangled elevator system ever: pseudo-modern but in fact terribly inconvenient and cumbersome.
All in all, the hotel feels terribly disheveled and rather understaffed. The staff that's there could definitely use (much) better supervision - it feels like the place has been taken over by people who just can't be bothered. Holiday Inn is supposed to be a symbol of hominess - this one felt...
Read moreI recently had the opportunity to stay at Holiday Inn - Vienna South and while there were certainly some positive aspects of the experience, there were also a few disappointments that left me questioning the consistency of the service provided.
One of the highlights of any hotel stay is the interaction with the staff, as it can greatly influence the overall impression. In this regard, Holiday Inn - Vienna South, left me with mixed feelings. It's clear that the management needs to prioritize regular training for their staff on how to treat guests. When staying at a hotel which is expected to maintain higher standards akin to those of establishments like Holiday Inn, one anticipates a certain level of service.
One particular incident stood out during our stay. A family of four, including myself, was informed that due to space constraints in the breakfast area, we were required to take our food to our room to eat. While this was somewhat understandable, it did raise eyebrows. However, we accepted the situation and proceeded to our room. (We were greeted by the staff at the breakfast area at 9:10AM, the breakfast ends at 10AM)
What struck us as perplexing was the subsequent observation. As we returned to the breakfast area with our food, we noticed that other guests were being seated and allowed to eat there, despite the apparent space constraints that were initially cited to us. At least ten individuals were accommodated, leaving us baffled and a bit frustrated.
Upon confronting the staff about the inconsistent treatment, we were suddenly shown a table and allowed to sit in the breakfast area. The irony was stark - we were only provided a table when we raised the issue, as if our skin color somehow affected our eligibility to be treated like other guests. This raised questions about fairness and equality in service provision.
It's disheartening to witness such inconsistencies in treatment, especially in a hotel that prides itself on maintaining higher standards. Guests should be able to expect equal treatment, regardless of their color or race or any other factor. It's my hope that Holiday Inn - Vienna South, recognizes the importance of consistent service and takes steps to ensure that all guests are treated fairly and with the respect they deserve.
In conclusion, my stay at had its ups and downs. While there were moments of genuine hospitality, the incident with the breakfast area left a lasting impression of inconsistency in service. I believe that with improved training and a commitment to fairness, has the potential to truly provide the high-standard experience it promises...
Read moreI booked the hotel via call. Initially, they had offered me, 2 Adults, with breakfast, later they did some mistake in booking and booked it for a higher price. When I asked to correct it, they correct the price but reduced 1 adult. The person called me and confirmed that it is corrected, so I did not notice and went ahead, at the reception I explained the situation, but they still charged me extra adult.
At the room, I called and they confirmed the water bottle is complimentary, So I ordered 2 of them and utilised 1, then they called that it's chargeable and they will put it in the room. They did not even tell the charges. At the checkout, they put me 4.5 EUR for the bottle and 7 EUR service charge, which is ridiculous. I had to pay for your staff mistake. There is no customer service at all at this hotel. I had stayed in many IHG and Holiday Inn hotels, this was the worst among all. I do not recommend this hotel because of the staff and the hidden charges. They are almost ready to make money from the customer by lying or making false claims. I felt cheated even before and during my stay.
Hello Daniel Zwieb, Based on your response, I am adding below points: I stayed only for 1 day, hence it should be complimentary. Despite me asking for confirmation, your staff confirmed its complimentary, and while check out why did they charged me for water bottle even for 1 day stay? Regarding Room Service, the service charge is more then the item itself. I stayed world wide in many hotels including IHG, always communicated before if there is a service charge. Haven't seen such service charges before. The main problem was lying and deceiving...
