Hotels in Zell am See are very expensive. A lot cheaper option is to look accommodation in Schüttdorf, quiet suburb about 2-3 kilometres from old town on the southern end of lake Zell. It’s easily reachable by bus #70 and #660 which run in every 30 minutes throughout the day and cost just 1 Euro with summer card.||||Hotel Landhouse (http://www.landhaus-zellamsee.at/) is typical family-run guest-house where owner, Thomas, is receptionist, bartender, chef and everything else. I booked directly with hotel by email (office@landhaus-zellamsee.at). There are rooms in two floors, 2nd and 3rd and our room #7 was on the second floor. There was magnificent view to the glacier from the balcony. Room was spacious with comfortable double bed, desk, 2 chairs, wardrobe and shelves but no fridge nor mini-bar. Bathroom was smallish but functioned ok, shower had good water pressure. Towels were changed unnecessarily every day, where again sheets were not changed at all during the week, at least once would have been nice. TV had several channels (never watched it, though) and free Wi-Fi worked smoothly during entire stay.||||Breakfast was from 7-10 and was quite basic: breads, cheeses, ham and salami, fruit salad, juice, yoghurt and corn flakes. Tea and coffee was served to table as well as eggs to your liking. 4 course dinner was served every night from 6.30 pm and included a starter, salad buffet, main course which was almost always meat, and dessert. It was well worth taking money wise as the quality of cooking was surprisingly good compared to similar places visited. One night we had barbecue with various meats, sausages and oven potatoes. Always when weather allowed we dined outdoors which was very pleasant.||||Downstairs is Finnish sauna which was heated up on request. Very nice steam-room for 6-8 people and powerful showers. Drinks could be ordered from full stock bar at any time. The only really annoying thing in the hotel was the non-existing sound proof: one could hear neighbour’s alarm clock going off, talk, doors opened and all the normal living sounds. Still, this hotel can easily be...
Read moreWe stayed here for two nights. I am doing the fair review of both pros and cons of this hotel. It is the family run hotel and all the services is done by the hotel owners only.||Actually in Zell am see, all the hotels were very expensive, comparatively we got this hotel for a very reasonable price. Just we had sent an email, the hotel owner had confirmed our reservation which impressed us to stay in this hotel without looking anything further. Rooms are very clean, we got Junior family suite for our family of four which was located in second floor just below the roof. We didn’t like this room much because of this reason, also very poor Wi-Fi signal inside the room. However, the balcony was very nice with alpine view. Very basic breakfast with breads and the hotel owner Thomas served the eggs to the table. ||Having said the above the pros, any guest looks for the good and pleasant service. We found both days cornflakes are kept open in the buffet counter throughout the day. The hotel owner reaction is not welcoming, he doesn’t like even kids dropping some food on the table, keeping the cup out of saucer etc. He was rude and the last day when we were taking our breakfast he was not even ready to serve eggs, just served three for four peoples and told it is ok. There are more to add about his rude behavior. We had traveled many places and never experienced such a kind of poor service and strange behavior towards hotel guest. This is the only hotel given a big disappointment during our entire trip. I will not recommend this hotel...
