We had a cocoon tent for 4 nights. Tent is spacious and the inside temperature can be regulated by rolling up the canvas sides to allow the wind to breeze through. As there are gauzed windows, insects are prevented from flying in. The glamping location is great, we walked everywhere to do all our activities, kayaking, mountainbiking and adventure valley activities. Especially the walk down to the kayak starting point and mountainbikes is pleasant through the woods. Staff are extremely helpful and friendly and almost all are bi-lingual (FR +NL). We had dinner every evening in the Greenfields restaurant. The portions were of a good size and sometimes even too much. My boys 12 and 10 had pizza and the spaghetti bolognese and barely finished it, I had a meatball pasta and that was also a good healthy portion. We found the food tasty all-round. The shared plates, nachos and 12x miniburgers were ok, maybe ask for less mustard (burgers come served with mustard and tomatoe sauce already on the burger.)
Then there are always areas for improvement and things to consider. The breakfast (in my opinion)is way too expensive, adults @ €20 and kids @ €14. It's a walk through buffet with cereal, scrambled egg with bacon, fruit juices, mini croissants etc, coffee and tea. The breakfast is ok, just not worth the money in my opinion. The central ablution blocks behind the kitchen...the men's. The urinals. One tap trickles water and whilst the other the connecting pipe half misses the urinal sending more water on the floor than in the urinal. In both circumstances, not enough water allows for adequate flushing and therefor it smells of urine (irrelevant of the multiple times the cleaning crew clean - alot) This is a maintenance issue that needs to be addressed. The waste bins are too small by the washbasins. The showers are clean and large, but no hooks to hang your clothing or a tray to put your soap ( merely an observation, didn't really bother me).
All in all a really great stay with more than enough to keep yourself (and your kids) busy. A great stay for the kids, loads of things (animation) to keep them...
Read moreWe stayed for 2 nights / 3 days in the park and we had a great time . The facilities are really nice, the pool was excellent and it was great that the kids were allowed to stay in it well after 22:00 on the really warm days we had . The staff everywhere and also in the restaurant and bar were very helpful and friendly and when we had a small issue with food arriving late, they sorted it out very quickly. Prices at the bar and restaurant were very reasonable for good sized drinks and good food . Our Cocoon tent was at the far end of the park, which was about 10 mins walk to pool etc but you are in the quiet side of the park there so if you're here to relax and read a book in peace then this is an ideal location. 2 small remarks - we had the Glamping stay package and not once did anyone check that we did indeed pay for this . We were never asked for our name or accommodation nr which we though was a bit strange . They just simply took our word for it. The same with breakfast - we just walked in, along with a lot of other people and nobody ever checked anyone... so I'm guessing there were probably a few non-paying guests in there as well as everyone figured out pretty quickly nobody was checking anything. Upon arrival - we were staying in Cocoon 34 - the lady told us we could drive to the corner gate and unload there as this accommodation is at the far opposite site of the entrance. When we got there, we realised the accommodation sat on the top of the hill and dragging coolers, chairs etc up that hill in the sun at 27c was not an easy task. Some assistance with a golf cart would have been ideal. Upon leaving however the receptionist allowed us 20 mins in the park with the car so we could easily pack everything in, once he realised what accommodation we were in and that made all the difference. The same option at arrival would have been fantastic. But this did not change anything to the fact that we had a great few days at...
Read moreAbsolutely incredible location. We went there for MTBiking and rock climbing and to our suprise it was located walking/cycling distance from the fantasy town of Durbuy. It's Very affordable and I'll totally tell people about it, but with some additional information:
It would have been great if there was a place where you could wash dishes and outside taps to fill water bottles. The bathrooms at the Safari tents were cleaned daily though and I never felt grossed out. It was just not nice to have to fill our water bottles next to people spitting their toothpaste in the basin.
The showers also had no water every evening for at least 1 hour and on the Friday night for 3 hours, with no explanation as to why, nor any forewarning.
It is also Glamping, which to me would mean that I can BBQ at a communal space, as the website said I cannot BBQ at the tent, though there were no communal facilities to BBQ available. There were communal fires through, so we were able to take some rocks to balance our grid that we brought from home and cooked our food that way.
Also, perhaps take your own pillows and additional Blanket. My pillow was TINY, like a 1/3 of the size of the cover and my daughter's Duvet was only 1/2 the size of the cover. We had extras in the car, so we had no need to ask for bigger duvets and pillows.
Then they don't really respond by e-mail. My friend eventually phoned them and they were very helpful. Their service is great when you get a...
