My husband and I were welcomed to the villas with a welcome drink while they readied our room. Senor Enrique and his crew are the friendliest of bartenders and waitstaff attendent to every need. Gorgeous villas. Definitely try to choose an upper floor sea side apartment so you can enjoy the salty sea air and cool ocean breeze. Our room was spotless and tastefully decorated with island art. I knew I was home when I spied a Black mermaid. The kitchen is well stocked, including with filtered water. Toiletries were well stocked. Washer and dryer and detergent provided, the absolute best. There is a bar including a swim up option that begs you to lounge around and a doc where you can sit by the sea and sunbathe. In the bar area, there are many versions of sun screen and bug spray options for your use. The bar has complementary coffee and tea starting at 5:30am. Grab some and watch the sunrise, then go have a wonderful delicious. breakfast. The hotel is more than willing to arrange services galore for you and has gokf carts to rent on site. Front desk staff are eager to help you find a restaurant, make reservations for excursions, and can arrange many sea outings with pick up at their dock.
We would come again, but I had a few disappointments. I provide a lot of details, but I do think this was still an amazing place to stay overall.
We worked with front desk staff too identify reservations at restaurants for two nights - in one case when we arrived the restaurant did not have the reservation, in another case, we were not notified of limited seating. We made the rest of the reservations on our own. I was also encouraged to dress up for one restaurant, and when I got there, there were few people wearing anything but shorts and swimsuits and cover-ups. It was not the right advice. That said, many of the rest of the requests, often related to directions, were attended to and accurate.
When we booked, we were flooded with emails on 3 to 4 different platforms prior to our stay. The emails encouraged us to use them to schedule flights, discouraged ferry use, overeagerly emphasized the use of golf carts, and outlined excursion options. Loved the first emails, but emails kept coming until we purchased their carts, which we made full use of but did not need to rent as long as they outlined. We asked questions about other assistance and did not receive a response. Though we emailed them through the platforms they were using, they contacted us with panic 48-hours prior to asking us our travel plans. It was not until that mix-up that the Villas provided clear communication about how we should communicate with them. I probably would have given a pass on this because when we arrived, there was another family who didn't have transportation contributing to the mix up...but our checkout was disorganized as well. They pushed us out of the hotel at 9am, despite confirming that we did not need to leave for more than an hour later at various points there When I mentioned this I got a less than enthusiastic sorry from Tristan who was assisting us with check out but they hurried us to the taxi and off we went to sit and sit and sit at the airport. Disappointing. On the booking site, it says check out is not until 11am, so have no understanding about why we...
Read moreI had an excellent stay at Pelican Reef Villas Resort. I traveled to Belize on a solo trip for my birthday and booked this resort pretty last-minute–less than a week from my travel dates. From the moment I booked my stay, Tris, manager of the property, provided excellent and efficient communication. He was diligent in working to set up golf cart rentals and even arrange transportation to my second hotel in San Ignacio, though I opted to book these services on my own. He also provided several restaurant recommendations in San Pedro when I mentioned wanting to find a nice restaurant for my birthday dinner. He arranged two reservations for me at Carambas and Elvie’s during my stay. Needless to say, he is an excellent member of the Pelican Reef team and made my stay very welcoming and memorable. The bar staff were also very friendly and helpful with recommending other things to do around the island.||The property was lovely and the condos are very spacious. I was welcomed with a beautiful birthday arrangement in my bedroom with fresh flowers to wish me a happy birthday. The condo was clean and comfortable and I have zero complaints about my accommodations. The pool and beach were also nice to spend time on. I enjoyed lounging in the one of the hammocks or resting in the cabana. I wish there could be more lounge seating around the pool, as the 4 loungers were frequently occupied by other guests. The complimentary breakfast was satisfying, though I wish a cup of tea would have been included in addition to the entree and juice. I only ate at the resort for lunch on the day arrived, but the food was decent–just a bit overpriced and limited options in my opinion. The kitchen on the property closes by 3pm daily, so you must find dinner off-site.||The unpaved roads to and from the resort could be pretty rough. I read the reviews prior to booking, so I expected this to some extent, but it did get old pretty quickly. Once I got used to it and knew where the bumps and dips were, it was a bit better. I would likely stay here again if I travel with family or friends in the future as I got a great value for what I paid, however the distance from the heart of San Pedro plus the bumpy roads poses a barrier.||Overall, I had a great stay and would love to visit this...
Read moreThis was our 1st trip to Belize and Ambergris Caye. We did a LOT of research prior to selecting the The Pelican Reef Villas Resort. During the reservations process they were quick to respond and very thorough, providing all of the info you need to know and offering to arrange transportation to/from the island. They are located about 3 miles south of town, away from the hustle/bustle but still an easy 20-25 min golf cart ride away. Upon arrival, we were greeted by Tristan. This guy is a true hospitality professional and will do anything he can to take care of you during your stay. As we sat down to get checked in and go over all the resort policies, he offered us a complimentary beer or rum punch. He asked what we had planned and if he could make any recommendations, dinner reservations, or excursion arrangements. The bartender staff is fantastic. Enrique, Byron, and Eli all serve up delicious cocktails at the beautiful swim up bar. Cindy rounds out the amazing team and they will make you feel like welcome and part of their resort family.
What we liked most about this resort is the large sized villas with fully equipped kitchens, (We went with a beachfront villa and were so glad we did!) which offered unobstructed amazing Caribbean views. Belize has some of the most turquoise water we have ever seen. The resort also offers complimentary breakfast entrees that you can order off their breakfast menu, and plenty of lounge chairs/hammocks to relax on.
They also have beach games, complimentary snorkels, kayaks, and paddleboards. While there is not a natural beach due to a beach wall installed to manage the sargasso, there is a man made beach with sand or you can walk to the end of the pier which has a stairway with easy access into the beautiful ocean. The infinity pool is beautiful with a swim up bar to suit everyone's needs.
While the resort is very beautiful and clean, it's the service that will keep us...
