Hula Bar sounds like an absolute gem! From your description, it seems to be a perfect blend of stunning views, welcoming staff, and a beautifully designed space. The glowing remarks about the food suggest it’s a must-visit for both locals and tourists alike. The drinks are amazing! The upcoming Disney-themed addition sounds like it will elevate the experience even further, especially for Disney fans. The tiki drinks, beignets, Mickey waffles, and other Disney-inspired treats will surely add a playful and magical touch to the menu. It seems like a fantastic spot to relax, indulge, and take in the scenery. If you enjoy great vibes and unique experiences, Hula Bar is definitely worth checking out!

Absolutely one of the best if the not THE BEST place to eat in San Pedro, maybe all of belize, the atmosphere is absolutely incredible sitting out on the water. Service was incredible, everyone was nice, most notable a bartender named Joshua, without him I feel my buddies and I would not have had the trip we did! He was always very respectful, friendly, and even allowed the guys and I to watch the NBA finals even when there were other larger sports events going on. As for the food, everything was delicious from the beautiful drinks garnished to perfection by Josh as well to the bacon cheeseburger I got with a huge slice on pineapple on it!😋 11/10 would go again and highly recommend it.

If you’re in San Pedro and are looking for a casual, low key dining experience, you must try The Hula Bar! Josh was our server and had excellent recommendations for both food and drinks. A traditional tiki and tapas bar, Belizean style. Think rum drinks, Mai Tai’s, with small bites; empanadas, mini fish & chips, sliders, ceviche, etc. Plenty of options, your classic pub food! Get a spot on the back deck in the evening, watch the moonlight reflect off the ocean, listen to the gentle sounds of the waves, and enjoy the ambiance. Finish your evening off with a slice of the cheesecake, it’s to die for!

We were staying by the hula, and after a recommendation from the concierge at our resort, decided to give it a try one dinner after a taxi ride back from Caye Caulker.

A simple dinner was all we wanted. Instead we were met with lackluster attention by any semblance of host, confusion over who our waiter was, and curt, minimum attention once we were finally recognized as paying customers.

Their menu is extensive (pejoratively), heavily drink focused, overpriced even by tourist standards, and confused with its identity. What do you want to be, hula? Your location and Hawaiian inspiration scream “today’s catch”, but your American pub flavors and Japanese poke bowls just do not fit. (Toss on the country heavy playlist and you’ve got a recipe for disaster.)

Anyways, we placed our drink, mixed “tapas” and “mains” orders (neither of which means what they should to anyone who’s ever stepped foot in a restaurant before) and waited.

And waited…and waited…and waited.

The ceviche (if one could call a bowl of pico and carrots with a few strewn about shrimps that) was fine.

We could barely stomach the rest of the food because “due to shortages” they were out of many of the core ingredients. The only reason any of us came close to finishing our plates was starvation from waiting.

After calling a manager over to complain we were given a slate of excuses from short staffed to a particularly busy day. That didn’t stop the group next to us (who arrive at the exact time as us) from having a perfectly timed dinner, both eating and leaving before a single plate arrived to our table. She did not comp a single item, insisting on a “no refunds policy” in place regardless of circumstances.

I pity the traveler who finds themself in this...

We had the BEST experience celebrating our 10-year anniversary here! From start to finish, everything was top-tier especially our waiter, Josh, who truly made our visit unforgettable. He struck the perfect balance between funny, cool, and professional, and you could tell he really knew the menu inside and out. Every recommendation he made was a hit (shoutout to The Cobra cocktail) and the lobster skewers, which were so good we ordered a second round.

We also tried the Tropical Wontons, and wow. crispy, flavorful, and perfectly balanced... and the sesame sauce is top tier! You can tell everything is made with care and fresh ingredients. Josh even shared a few behind-the-scenes details about how some dishes are prepared, which made the whole experience feel special and personal.

Oh & the setting was beautiful, right over the water with a gentle breeze and just enough shade to stay comfortable. The vibe was laid-back but elevated, the kind of place where you can relax but still feel like you’re celebrating something meaningful.

Between the amazing food, effective drinks, and top-notch service, this place easily earns 5 stars (I wish I could give it more!). Huge thanks again to Josh for making our anniversary fun & unforgettable. we’ll...
