Pros - The rooms are nice. Close to the cable cars which was also fun :) the price is also quite reasonable compared to other hostels in La Paz. Cons - the breakfast is one of the most limited I’ve seen traveling so far, 2 pieces of bread + butter + a glass of juice, with strictly no allowance to extra bread and a requirement to clean up after yourself. The WiFi works significantly less well than other places I’ve stayed in La Paz. The bathrooms are not very clean, and getting hot shower is difficult. I don’t like that they give guests 5% off if they leave a review: It artificially makes the reviews much better than they should be as you wouldn’t be confit table leaving a poor review and showing it to them.
PS - as with other non 5 star reviews the response from the owners is very aggressive and showcases the way they see their customers as wealthy and spoilt. Definitely would never expect a ritz experience from a Hostel, and was only comparing this to other...
Read moreI don't recommend this place at all. I had a bunch of stuff stolen from my room (over $2,000 in value), as did others. The staff easily identified the thief afterwards, and knew he was a bit suss, but when the theft happened they treated me with disrespect. The person who should be managing reception isn't always available. The person who prepares breakfast comes across as quite rude if you don't speak good Spanish, and good luck trying to use the kitchen at lunchtime when he wants to clean. Diego, the one responsible for tours etc is kind at first, but has a rough side. There's just very little sense of community one expects from a hostel.
Edit: The owner's comment is absurd. Calling me a vagrant? Overstaying? I was a paying client. It shows you the attitude you get when you're there. As for thinking this is due to cultural differences, I'm well travelled enough to know...
Read morehorrible experience. The room was freezing, there was in my room a door to the terrace with an opening 5 cm below so all the cold came in. I couldn't take a shower because a trickle of lukewarm water came out. But the most serious thing is that I paid 35 dollars to reserve the room with a flexible reservation, I advised that I would only be staying for three nights as soon as I arrived and they told me that I would have to pay them because the money I had paid was for the reservation of the room, I was threatened and accused of fraud, I still have the owner's messages. In the end, in addition to the 35 dollars, I paid another 100 bolivianos for the sleepless night I spent and left. the cost of the single is 100 bolivianos, DON'T BE FOOLED! The only good thing are the guys who work who are very good...
