Hotel Takana — Hotel in Rurrenabaque

I stayed 2 nights here with my partner. We wanted a semi-nice hotel for an affordable price and this place was just right for that! The pool is nice to sit by, the bed is comfy and the view from the balcony upon the river is great. The service isn't great though. Breakfast is from 7:15-9:00 and when we arrived at 7:15 we needed to wait 30min till it was set up. The other day we arrived at 8:30 and the food had partially run out. Laundry service worked well except that we got a piece of somebody else's laundry. Often the reception was empty or there was a child sitting there. What felt very unprofessional was the cleaning staff on the last day: she kept coming into the room while I was still packing, handing me bedsheets for the next guests and basically hurrying me to check out although it was way before check out time. If you are against animal cruelty then please think twice about staying at this hotel became they have two macaws and two parakeets in the hotel garden which might seem appealing until you find out that these beautiful birds have had their wings clipped so they are unable to fly so they are basically being held prisoner to attract clientele to the hotel. Please understand that these incredible animals need to fly many kilometres per day to excercise and relive stress levels so by keeping them prisoner is extremely cruel and illegal so we should not be contributing to this extreme act of cruelty. Another thing to mention is that the breakfast was among the worst I've ever had, there was a very bad smell coming from our bathroom drain as it was obviously blocked and the bathroom flodded as a result and the staff were very rude. Run from this hotel! I would have given it a zero rating, if I could. Dirty, dingy hotel where each room the front desk guy showed us smelled like nasty body sweat, had left over items from previous customers (meaning room wasn’t cleaned), and cob webs and dust everywhere. Hallways have exposed wires for old or possibly new lights? Pump on the pool was not functioning so god knows what is growing in the water. We had booked a three bed room (three woman traveling together) and the guy had no clue which rooms were which (dragged us and luggage all over the hotel) and showed us four before we actually found a room with three beds. None of the AC units worked. Mini fridge smelled like something had died inside. Mold visible on walls! Then that front desk guy had the gall to try and charge us more! We took our money and ran!...
