This hotel is NOT a 4 star. The lobby gives a false impression. Images online give a false impression. False advertising as it doesn’t say what it is on the tin.
When we arrived the system was down and we were unable to check in. We were told it would be working at 2pm, it was not. We asked if we could put our luggage in holding so we could look around till check in was “open” we had to pay R$30.
When we returned we were able to check in, it went smoothly enough (my partner is from Brazil so there was perfect communication between him and the receptionist). We got to our room and as you can see why the photos is wasn’t the cleanest. There was stains on the bed, bathroom was dirty with flies in it 24/7, the AC wasn’t working properly and there was a smell of mould and must. We kept the window open all of the time and the AC on to help with the smell and the air but nothing seemed to work and we both left with a cough (I am asthmatic). In the photos it shows complimentary treats and water, there was 1 bottle of water in the fridge which we thought was complimentary until check out, when we found out it was R$7. This was not communicated during our check in that if anything is consumed from the fridge you must pay. There was no information in the room either regarding anything.
The key card would work at times but most of the time it didn’t, you would spend 5-10 minutes trying to get into your room. This appeared to be on all the rooms as multiple people were complaining about it, and people on our floor were screaming and hitting their door trying to get into their room.
The wifi did not work in the building apart from when you were in the lobby but when then it was hit and miss.
When booking it said there was gym and pool. When we checked in we were informed the pool was closed. We later found out the entire floor was not accessible, which meant no pool, sauna, gym or relax area to look at the sunset, which damped the trip as we would usually train most days and were looking forward to looking at the sunset.
The staff were rude and didn’t care about the service or people staying. They only care about profit.
After our complaints we still had to pay another R$30 for our bags to stored till our flight later that night.

Read moreI arrived on Sunday and there was absolutely nothing open anywhere around the hotel, so I had to resort to the hotel food.||The room was extremely small for the size of the bed but I managed.||The mattress was ok and I didn't have much trouble dealing with with the spaces available.||There was a buffet and, with nothing else around, I decided to go for it.||Available there was rice, beans, chicken and some beef medallions, which I chose to my regret. I had to swallow the meat pratically whole to avoid spitting it back on the plate. I lacked hydraulic jaws to be able to chew it.||Service was OK, albeit some pompous attitude by the front desk gentleman (there was he, a white man, and two black young ladies. The ladies were nicer.||Would I return? Only if circumstances demanded due to proximity to a place where I needed to conduct business, otherwise no.||The top floor, where they have a "swimming pool" (more like a 7' X 7' tank), offered an amazing view of the Sugar Loaf mountain. They also have a gym and sauna which I did not visit.||The float screen, however, had good reception and several channels, including CNN International in English.||The shower was pretty decent, but the lighting in the bathroom sucked.||Incidentally, the restaurant did not offer a la carte. ...

The people that work here are very rude and have very bad costumer service. Lobby as you walk-in is dirty and hot. As you get in to your room you can see that it’s old, dirty, stinky and musty! AC has a very loud sound which makes it impossible to sleep, bed covers and sheets are not changed or clean often! They sheets stink and are torn in multiple areas. It gave me very bad allergies I had to go to the pharmacy to get medication because the skin and eye allergy was just horrible on the beds! There’s nothing to consume in the mini fridge (even if you want to buy). Requesting things such as towels is a hassle for them took over 3 hours for them to bring us new towels since they took ours. If you don’t request for them to “clean the room” they will not do so! Pool is old and the bar doesn’t even work. Gym only has 2 treadmills and a bike lol breakfast is boring they service nothing different or even really good! Would not recommend this place to no one! We were just so disappointed and if you like good quality places to stay, look for a different hotel, for the people that have this place 4 stars they clearly don’t like good...
