This place was unbearable. Do not even think about staying here! We paid for 3 nights, was wrongly charged twice and the two blokes at reception denied it for about an hour, finally admitted their mistake and then simply said they cannot do anything about it. I called the bank to sort this out but this was not the end of our dramas here.||I booked this hotel after checking their website saying that they speak English. We arrived and I asked the first bloke at the front desk if he spoke English. He said something in Portugese and so I pointed to the sign posted on the wall behind him saying 'We speak English.' He got defensive and through his hands up in the air. We brushed this incedent off and hoped that maybe someone on the next shift would be able to speak English. We got up to the room and it was disgusting. The toilet and shower was mouldy. We were tired so, we went straight to sleep only to be woken up at 3am by the constant banging of doors (the doors would not close properly unless banged shut). ||The next day we went on a tour of Sao Paulo and we asked our Tour Guide to help us sort out our billing issue. She thankfully agreed and spoke to the 2 rude blokes at reception. Again, she was arguing with them for an hour before one of them finally decided to call the bank and confirm. They were proved wrong but the best they could do was tell us they made a mistake but could not fix it. She also brought up the language situation and they both got very defensive saying they were not oblidged to speak English in Brazil to which she replied fair enough but don't advertise that you do again pointing to the sign on the wall. The smug bloke then replied 'that's marketing.' I didn't understand any of their conversation but they were clearly being very rude to our friend. She did not want to translate what they were saying as she said there was no point upsetting me with the words of 2 rude, uneducated pigs. It was clear that we would get no where so we decided to leave and find a better hotel even though we forfited the other 2 nights paid. ||So don't even think about staying here! Not only that but they also misleadingly advertise that the hotel is in the nice suburb of Jardins- but its not! It is on the not so great side of Av. Paulista. There are plenty of other hotels! We ended up at Formula 1- much nicer rooms, nicer staff and for the same...
Read moreThis hotel at #1255 Rua Augusta appears to be advertised under different names that are easily confused with other properties on the same street. I reserved under the name "Bella Augusta Residence." Here on TripAdvisor the property is listed as "Augusta Plaza Hotel". Down the street at #922 is "Augusta Park Residence". The naming confusion makes it difficult to find the right hotel to read reviews.||I expected to find a hotel that was old but reasonably comfortable. But the lack of maintenance in the room in which I stayed made the stay uncomfortable. The latch to the closet door beside the bed virtually fell off when I tried to open the door. The faucet in the bathroom sink was in the same condition. Paint was peeling from a large area of the wall adjacent to the bathroom. The toilet stank, apparently not having been cleaned very well. There was no air conditioning but a fancy portable fan/humidifier in the room that did very little by way cooling; it was uncomfortably hot during my stay in February. ||On the positive side, the airport bus from Guarulhos stops a short walk from the hotel, the staff were fine, breakfast was ok and there are a good number of restaurants nearby, including a Japanese restaurant where I had dinner. Based on my experience, if I was going to stay in the same area, I would look for a...
Read moreI’m not sure where to begin....or if there is less than 1 star. Stayed the first night in the 313 room and it was nice a renovated and clean. Then I decide to stay a second night but I can’t stay in the same room. They take me to the second floor to a second room which was a lot less nice and two twin beds unlike the large full queen I had the first night. I later said I wanted a new room and they said no problem. So they moved me to a third room on the same floor but with a better view.... same two small beds. I leave my things in the room and begin to explore the city. I got back maybe 2am and see little small ants on my bed.. I tell the front desk guy I needed a new room or a refund. He said he could not and that he would have the sheets changed. He actually made an excuse to say “it’s because of the heat....” he did not give me a refund or a new room. Why does it say 3.6 stars ?!?! Ironically that’s the same guy sleeping I recorded on the first night. Bad management and facilities are trash.. even when I took a shower in the “new room” the water faucet broke......this is a warning. Don’t be fooled by the nice location and “free breakfast.” If you are looking to stay somewhere in this town do not stay at Bella...
