Just returned from a week at the Klisura Hotel. Initially it appeared fine, however, on further inspection, although the room was spacious, it was outdated with the decor, loose floor tiles, which the beds conveniently covered. The beds were hard and very uncomfortable, never managed to get a good nights sleep. The sofa in the room although comfortable, when tried, there was no evidence that it was cleaned between occupiers, therefore being fabric it was easily stained and left it open to cross infection, which was really off putting.|The T.V was a model from the late 80’s early 90’s, we like to take our USB adapter that has films and music to listen to, however given the model of the out of date T.V this was not possible, therefore we were stuck with, news, news, and more news! This need to be drastically updated.|We stayed for 7 nights, bedding, and towels, were only replenished twice during our stay, and given the temperature between 28degrees and 32degrees every day we felt that this should have been done on a daily basis. |The room was only given the once over, but no evidence of the floors being swept and mopped.|On our first night, we arrived early hours of the morning, Stan who introduced himself as the owner of the bar and hotel made us feel welcome and at ease, however, our second night was not the same, because we went to the local supermarket to get refreshments and snacks for the room, he witnessed us bringing them back, and his whole attitude towards myself and my partner completely changed. |My partner went to the bar as a normal person would if there were no waiting staff around (this was mainly a walk in bar), ordered the drinks, to which he said “ why come up to the bar for your drinks when I have people to take your order” after I sat down, other people that were also sitting went to the bar to order their drinks but nothing was said about them going to the bar, which made us feel unwelcome, therefore we used other bars, with more welcoming staff.|Also… the pool water did not seem to be pH tested or any evidence of chlorination which is usually available due to allergies and skin reactions with the chlorine (over chlorination)(holidays that we have been on previously have provided documentation on request of the pH level of the water, cleaning regime and when chlorination takes place, due to experiencing nausea, vomiting and diarrhoea on past holidays)|Unfortunately I experienced 2 days of severe diarrhoea and vomiting which had to be treated due to dehydration. |So in all be aware of the cleanliness of your room, and if in doubt of the pool cleanliness ask for documentation regarding cleaning, chlorination and pH of the water and be aware of going into the pool if you have a mosquito bite or open wound as you could acquire a nasty infection.|Hope this helps,...

Air con and fridge in room no extra fee. ||||The Bad ||||The white bread had mould on it one morning. We found a lizard, ALIVE, in our room one evening!! WiFi doesn't work in room and barely in reception. ||||The Ugly ||||Where do I start, the hotel is ran by a dictator manager who never properly welcomed us on arrival and only sarcastic comments during our one week stay. We requested fresh towels from her and was denied, stating it was not a 5* hotel! Luckily for us the cleaning staff are very helpful and provided us with fresh towels the next day! On departing from the hotel there was a towel kindly sitting next to our suitcases, a nice sick joke by the female manager, doesn't have anything better to do clearly! ||||We made it down for breakfast 3 out of 7 mornings, we are on holiday and want a lie in! On the last day we made sandwiches for travelling home and was told by the manager it is not possible to take food away from the breakfast, we did however as it is not stated anywhere in writing that you cannot! ||||Lastly, we booked through Love Holidays and used the shuttle transfer, we checked the collection time online, however was later told the hotel had been informed to advise guests this particular service had incorrect collection times. The so called manager took pleasure in informing us we missed our transfer when we arrived back from our day out 1.5 hours before the due collection time. I called the shuttle service and they informed me they will refund the taxi cost, the manager avoided helping us arranging a taxi to the airport, acting busy not actually doing anything and speaking in foreign! We had to find a taxi quickly and kindly the Karlovo Hotel next door assisted with this!...
Read moreThe hotel is mostly really nice. The entrance, dining area and pool are all lovely. The staff are very welcoming and friendly. The rooms are big with plenty of room to move around and store your things. My only issue with the rooms are they do need a little updating. The hairdryer is older than my nan and she's 90! It's a box attached to the wall right next to the toilet so doesn't give you much freedom to move when doing your hair, it has also been broken at the pipe at some point at it had clear glue repairs but they hadn't worked as each time you seven slightly moved the pipe it came away from the box and was to hot to put back on! There's a large old school TV which probably isn't needed and the rooms do not have a mosquito net at the balcony door so leaving the door open on a hot night wasn't an option. Stans bar is lovely and do some lovely food and drink at good prices but the hotel ask you to be quiet if your coming back after 11pm in respect for other guests but some nights stand bar had music blasting out until 3.30am so nobody in the hotel was sleeping. Im all for a good time and if you want music on fine but keep it low since the bar in on the grounds...
