君澜酒店JUNLAN HOTEL — Hotel in Khaet Preah Sihanouk

Forced to leave Coconutbeach Bungalows on Koh Rong very suddenly and unexpectedly we reached Sihanoukville late afternoon on the 1st, after nearly six hours of waiting and traveling (it would have taken just an hour or so by direct ferry). We needed to find a hotel for one night for our group and found Junlan from an internet search. Nearly the whole city was a construction zone and the road and entrance to the hotel itself was completely dug up. We discovered that it was a brand new Chinese owned and operated hotel, still partially incomplete with no restaurant, etc. Luckily there was one English speaking lady at the reception who checked us in and was very helpful. Rooms were basic and comfortable and the bathrooms were very good with all amenities. Everything was very fresh and clean since we were probably some of the first guests. The receptionist had suggested that we could order in for dinner but when we went to inquire in the evening the English speaking lady had left and nobody at the reception could speak English or give us menus in English of restaurants that deliver to the hotel. We had to again rely on an internet search to find a place to eat. Breakfast was included in the rate but we discovered next morning that there was only a makeshift kitchen and a few tables on the roof with a single non-English speaking cook and no other staff. It was dirty, smelled of cigaret. Dust and dirt all over the floor. The receptionists do not speak any English AT ALL. Only chinese. They advertise breakfast buffet but there was no buffet only some old lady eating porridge asking you in chinese what you want to eat. Also doesn’t speak English.
