This hotel is mediocre. My view of the reception staff is consistent with other reviewers in the fact that they have absolutely no personality or interest in the guests. This actually made me laugh as I was in a room with the entrance being right infront of reception. Every time I left the room or came back I said hello or good bye respectively. I also needed their assistance a number of times with fixing the fridge and electrics. Despite this, every time I spoke to them, they would act like I was a complete stranger and ask what room I was in. I would make a point of looking at the room door right infront of them before saying the number. This charade was also played out on the day I left after staying 9 days, I decided to check out a day early. As I had a bus coming to pick me up at 7.30 am I made sure there was nothing to settle when I went to reception at 7am. Once the receptionist had established once again which room I was in ( after 9 days) he said ok all is fine. When the bus arrived at 7.30, as I was getting into the bus the same receptionist came and asked me to pay the bill. I booked online and assumed I had already paid, especially when I asked him earlier. $250 was payable. Conveniently they didn't take credit card so this meant the bus driver would not wait while I went to the ATM. So of course I had to rush to the nearest ATM pay and then had to get a motorbike to catch up with the bus. This was a huge mess up and the receptionist, a young man would not accept any responsibility for the crazy situation he had created. Because of this and because of the attitude of the hotel, I am afraid I cannot give it a good recommendation. Also, the wifi was very intermittent, you could not rely on the fact that it would be working when...
Read moreA very small room, never had a room smaller, with no sound insulation at all. The rooms are so crowded together that it feels like you have several people all in the small room at times, especially if there are people sitting right outside your door, smoking & drinking at night, a few ft away from your bed. All 3 mornings, I was woken up by kids running around screaming & shouting outside, the last day at 6:10am. ||||No room safe (fair enough), fridge has no power when you go out, as reported, no hot water at all for my 4 days/3 nights, I hate cold showers. AC was good (because the room so small), no problems with internet.||||I stayed over the road at the Golden Sands for a week, at an extra $5 a night, prior to my stay here. Its like comparing the Hilton with a beach tent to be honest. If you're a budget backpacker, these rooms may be great, but didn't meet my needs, wasn't...
Read moreWe stayed 3 nights at Zana House (not to be confused with Zana Guesthouse - they have two different locations), It was close to the golden lions roundabout but also 5 mins walk away from the Ocheteaul beach. There is are supermarkets/restaurants around the corner. It doesn't have a restaurant on its premises but go to the G.B.T next door for some good, well priced food. We paid around $19/night but the room was cosy, nice hot shower, clean and all the staff are really friendly people. They have a hot water dispenser near the reception area which was great for making morning coffees. The bed was comfortable, air-con was decent and the fridge worked so good place to stay if you're in need to do some laundry/recharge your...
