Stayed for five nights, trying to escape a seven days/seven nights ordeal caused by an incredibly loud horn-speaker used at a funeral ceremony that was held about 50 meters from my room at another hotel in town.||||The room at Luck Life World Hotel was big, quiet and nicely furnished. The bathroom came with an electric water heater that - as I discovered only late at night, long after check-in - was not connected to any water pipe! Sorry, no hot water! ||||Oh well, that was partly my own fault, because I did presume that the room came with hot water as I had noticed that the heater was actually connected to the mains. But I have never experienced anything like that - on all my travels - before!||||The room was ok, with a comfortable bed, but the bathroom, except for the floor, has probably never been properly cleaned in the few years since the hotel was built. Bedsheets did not get changed either and I had to beg for drinking water and toilet paper almost every day. Toilet paper was not supplied after the first day. The staff at the reception were reasonably friendly but not more. All in all a rather...
Read moreVery disappointed with the staff. On the first day they were not even able to direct me to the post office. The second day I asked for a bus from Kratie to Siem Reap. The girl said she didn't know the number for the bus company (!) so I then had to ask her to call in a member of staff that did. When he arrived he convinced me that the price of the VIP Bus (which was more comfortable, had A/C, your own seat guaranteed, lots of room and only took 7 hours) was a much better option. For this he charged $20. When I had said I had seen buses for $11 he was quick to disregard them and assure me he was not trying to cheat me as I would have to change buses, pay extra upon entering the city and it would take much longer if I was to book elsewhere. What I got was a cramped minibus, with 5 people to 4 seats and which took 9 hours. He assured me $20 was a set price however I asked the bus driver when getting off what he charged and he told me the price should only be $10. So the price was doubled for me after booking through Luck Life in good faith. Totally dishonest and taking advantage, would not advise...
Read moreProbably this place was the best spot In town back in the day, they have a huge banquet hall but there was no food and they barely turned the lights on in the hallways when we stayed there. All the furniture looks fancy but it's uncomfortable after 5 minutes and I think just there for looks. Definitely need to dust the chandelier it looked great but had about a five year layer of dust on it! This place is most likely a fire hazard now one faulty wire and poof! But This place has an elevator and air conditioning for $20 a night I thought it was Pretty clean until you look under the bed yikes !! If they spent as much time cleaning the rest of the place as they did mopping the hallways it would be sparkling. Pretty cheap and centrally located. Staff didn't have much English and they don't service the rooms unless you ask. Rooms were very large with king bed and private bathroom for $20 on Agoda.com. Ok spot for the price the best part was the soriya kayaking trip location is almost directly behind this plCe so it was a short walk there to kayak and see the endangered albino...
