After reading the reviews we where expecting the hotel to be a lot worse rooms are spacious air con working well. Just a bit overpriced. Food was ok nothing special. Are problem was with the man at reception we wanted to do a tour for 4 of us to see the dolphins and go to the 100 pillar pagoda and see the turtles. he told us it was 25 per person as we need to get 2 tuk tuks because the roads are bumpy and they will only take 2 or 3 people per tuk tuk. This seemed a bit strange to us because as we all know a tuk tuk driver will fit 10 people if needs be. So then 1 of the girls decided she didn't want to go so we said we will just be needing 1 tuk how much will it be now he said the same price. He said the turtle are very far out so the tuk will only do it for that price we found it a bit fishy so decided to go out and get a different price he ran out after me saying ok I'll give u a discount I just said no thank u. Basically we went out got the tuk for 7 per person the dolphin ticket 4 7 per person as it was cheaper because there was 3 of us and the turtles where 4 everything cost 18 per person he was charging us 21 dollars extra. He was constantly trying to sell us tours or asking where are we going next that he would book a bus. Not...
Read moreAll in all, it was alright for a night, but i was glad to not be staying longer.
Good: Large rooms, with big windows letting in natural light Great sunset view from the big shared balcony (with some tables on chairs) on the top floor Premises mostly kept clean (which is not the case with all guesthouses along this strip) Large guesthouse, so unlikely to be full Wifi works well in the rooms most of the time AC is very cold
Bad: The bathrooms need some work. In mine the water heater was broken, and the drain the the shower-bath combo was partially blocked so started backing up if you ran the shower for more than 10 seconds. So I had to abandon plans to shower and just have a stand up cold water sponge bath at the sink. The mattress in my room felt about 30 years old, and my back was really complaining by morning. The air vents in the bathroom had no screens, so you get a tonne of bugs in there. The bedroom seemed reasonably sealed, but even though I kept the bathroom door closed, I still found loads of bugs in the bedroom. Some black mould or mildew around the windows. There's a lamp on the bedside table, but no power outlets anywhere near the bed, so this lamp was unusable (purely...
Read moreWe were literally stalked by the owner of this hotel who constantly hassled us to buy tours and tickets through him. Luckily we had already worked out our tour, which was way cheaper than what he was quoting us. We decided to give him the benefit of the doubt and bought bus tickets to Mondulkiri through him. We were promised a VIP luxury minivan. He even showed us the pictures and promised us seats at the front as my daughter gets car sick. We ended up getting a very run down old van, with 5 of us in 3 seats, the whole bus was overloaded and the driver even had a lady sat next to him on the drivers seat. When we rang him, he first said that the initial van was only to pick us up and then we would be put in the van that was promised to us. Once we realised this wasn't going tk be the case and we were going to be in that van for the whole trip, we rang him again and hw said that the VIP van had broken down and then stopped answering his phone. We were also promised door to door drop off, but we were left at the side of the road and had to make our own way...
