The location is outstanding and so is the view. We walked to the hotel and booked a 1 night river view double room for 35 USD. The room was nicely sized, so was the bathroom. The amenities were good in the room too, including an amazingly effective A/C unit. There was a lovely balcony that allowed us to dry our clothes after a day of kayaking with dolphins. The bed is nice and big, and we had a corner room so we had another two giant windows to see down the coast of the Mekong river. The staff were really nice and helpful, even when we broke our bag they gave us some tools to help fix the zips. We do a bed bug inspection with A UV torch for every bed we sleep in and it was perfect. The breakfast was included but we didn't have time to enjoy it as our transport to siem reap arrived at 6:50am (20 minutes after breakfast opens). The WiFi speed was very good too and the connection was reliable The hotel is really lovely and I assume that the bad reviews from before are mainly from a few years ago. However, I will say that some things would need some improvement. There are a lot of fruit flies outside the room, this can easily be fixed. The elevator, while works perfectly fine and is sized ok for this hotel, needs a change of carpet as the dust levels are enormous. Anyone with allergies might have problems with it. Finally, while we used the toilet a few times, it started to block up just as we left. I think there's a faded sign that says to not put tissues inside. However, they only gave one toilet roll and so we were forced to try the facial tissues (it was an emergency so we wouldn't recommend it). I think this can be solved by replacing the toilet, adding a new sticker that's clear and providing more than just one toilet roll for two people. I'd happily stay here for more than 1 night but these issues would need to be solved again. They didn't ruin the stay,...
Read moreAs others have said this hotel is adequate. The exterior and lobby are nice but once you get inside you realize this is an old hotel with a paired down, apathetic staff. ||When we arrived the elevator wasn’t working. Ok, that happens but it was indicative of the hotel. The room was big and again very old.||There was 1 nightstand and a handful of outlets to plug in devices near the closet and on the far wall (from the bed). ||We called the front desk to ask for an extra blanket and they just say, “no English”. Thankfully we had a guide, so we contacted him and he called the hotel and asked for us. Then we get a call in our room from the front desk and they said, “blanket ready” and hang up. We thought it was weird and went to the door thinking someone would be there with the blanket- but no. So again contacted our guide and asked him to ask them to bring it to our room. And a few minutes later they did. ||There was a bare bones staff and it seemed like they had 0 or very little training. ||The bath/shower is elevated so you have to take a really big step to get in/out. ||Thankfully there was hot water, and they provided shampoo, conditioner, body wash, shower cap, dental kits, q tips. ||Because of an early tour, we had to take a packed breakfast with us. That was only possible because we had a guide to communicate with them. They did a semi-good job with the breakfast- packed nicely but didn’t give us utensils. ||We stayed for two nights. If I ever go to Kratie again, I’d look for somewhere else but if I couldn’t find anything better,...
Read moreIf I could give this a -5 I would. I stayed one night (out of intended 6) but left in the morning to stay at Le Tonle (so lovely!!!). |Where to start - was in Kratie for work. From the outside it looked promising. That’s where it stopped. |The staff are rude|The room was pretty dirty - towels stained yellow. Robes in cupboard were yellow. |I found dirty tissues under the bed. And piles of grime in the corners. |A Valium enabled me to sleep - sort of. But the next day was the last straw. |Guests were smoking in the interior stairwells and leaving the butts on the floor. (Yes there are no smoking signs everywhere but clearly no one cares). |The safe didn’t work and they refused to fix it. |The kettle didn’t work and again they refused to fix it. |Staff were using the restaurant downstairs as a dormitory. |Most disturbing of all was a man who wandered the floor aimlessly wrapped only in a towel. Note: there is no pool. |To be honest it felt like a weird modern-day twist on The Shining. As there was virtually no one else staying there. And with good reason. |As a woman on my own I felt incredibly unsafe. |Truly - don’t stay here. Le Tonle is a delightful...
