This hostel was well run! We had great service( best on our 2 month trip), was clean, well situated, had a pool, had a bar + kitchen b/l/d. The food and drinks were mid priced but the convenience + quality worked out well. We stayed in private room $20ish a night but others had dorm rooms for $7-8 I think. In peak season this place books out so get in fast. Our room was generous size, king bed and so comfy. They had amazon prime, netflix etc so relaxing in room was possible. They also had outdoor areas on each floor where u could eat, watch storms coming or just hang out. The tours of angkor wat and beyond by the hostel tuk tuk driver was hospitable, friendly and exceeded our expectations. In Cambodia Siem Reap was quite expensive relatively as it is seemingly completely western/ tourist focused. Our tuk tuk driver saved the day when visiting temples paying for some 'extras' out of his pocket ( we paid him on return). There is an issue with US dollars being accepted at shops/ restaurants, etc. If the bills are not new they wont accept them as payment... You need to check your change that they give you fresh notes. Otherwise make the effort to pay in Cambodian Riel...it is cheaper and better for them ( they dont lose money converting). We tried to exchange notes at a seperate currency exchange business ( not hostel) they wouldnt accept not fresh note but explained why satisfactorily eg $20 for $20 and they wanted to charge $10 to do this. It is not a scam...the banks are not accepting older US currency so Beware. We bought our tuk tuk driver lunch and learnt alot sitting with him eating about the local culture we would have missed otherwise. No other westerners sat with their drivers.... this we felt was disappointing but not unexpected. He took us to other experiences and other cultural places that were not on the preset schedule. Some hospitality goes along way here. Now... Anyone going to Angkor wat should be aware that the Cambodian government recently displaced more than 10000 people whom generationally lived surrounding the temples ( to preserve temples for tourism). Many moved to no running water, no electricity, no solution. So there is an aggressiveness to selling trinkets and shop selling we have not experienced elsewhere on travels. We respect hustle but this was a bit extra. We feel it could be because they really do 'need' to sell goods to survive in this area. We didnt understand this until we went to the museum and culture centres and by chance had google news story popup on phone. In saying this we found....food to be more expensive near temples ( up to 3 times like tourist places in our own country) but drinks same or cheaper. The goods at the temple shops were cheaper for same things than in the city markets. We left the temples feeling we wanted to support them more but our bags were already full as this was our final trip destination. The temples were everything we expected. If you want great pics I suggest doing the grand circuit ( outer temples) especially when it rains and you can get pics with no others! The main temples are busy on short circuit and most tourists only do these. I suggest tuk tuk option rather than bus tour as you dont want to always be waiting for others....it gives you more freedom. Perhaps buy a guide book or visit museum siem reap beforehand for history, we enjoyed this...and the best pieces are conserved here too.
If you are still reading this....back to the hostel. The only thing we had any issue with was a water leaking aircon. It worked fine but at times gushed a little water...we used towels under it and turned it down...there was also a ceiling fan in room.
We fully recommend this hostel...we had the best service of our trip here. We felt welcome and looked after at every...

To put it simply; Bokre Ankor Hostel has been a holiday within a holiday. When my girlfriend and I first arrived we had just finished a long journey to Cambodia from Thailand by bus, needless to say we were exhausted. But when we got in Banyan, behind reception, made us feel very welcome and greeted us with cold glasses of water and a smile. We were shown to our private room immediately despite being an hour early, the room was clean, pretty and spacious, with an ensuite. It was also equipped with all the necessary toiletries. (The room was $16 a night) Since then we have booked multiple tours with the staff here and all have been full of adventure and worthwhile information. (For a fair price). The tour guides do not always speak the best English, but they speak more than well enough to give you the full experience. When you first walk in there is a jungle-like patio with a pool and tables where you can smoke. The lobby itself is also very charming. We have since decided to visit again (less than a week later) and have opted for a shared dorm ($6), which has been surprisingly pleasant and we might just extend our stay!
All in all Bokre Ankor Hostel has been one of our best experiences in Asia so far! I would recommend it to anyone, regardless of your spending limit as it caters to backpackers and...
Read moreThe best hostle I stayed at traveling for 2 weeks in South Asia. Staff is outstanding and quick, every request is being handled momentarily. They help you with directions and map. Bathrooms and showers on each floor are clean so as rooms. They have liquid soap for washing hands, have to bring everything else for the shower though. Good air conditioning and fan in each room. Bed linens are super clean so as towels and blankets. Food is very good, prices are reasonable. They have hot and cold drinking water from the machine free of charge. Very nice balconies on each floor with tables and seating areas. Relatively quiet hostle. Each bed has a curtain and night light. Tuk tuks are always waiting outside even though we rented a motor bike to ride around. Out of all motor bike rentals we chose the one 10 min away by walk and had a great experience - "Bayon" Electric bike rental. The more days you rent the cheaper it gets wich is great because tuk tuks are the only means of transportation there and can get really expensive. 5 min tut tuk ride $3 comparing to $10 per day electrical motor bike that doesn't require fuel. They also book excursions and have express buses to most of the destination. They sell Sim cards at the frint desk. We took a bus to Phem Pehn on the check out day, 6hrs ride. Small bus took us from hostle to a bus station when we changed to a big bus with really wide seats, airconditioning, free water and snack, stopped for lunch and bathroom breaks - $12. We had a great stay! Strongly...
