Rooms are interesting, very high tech modern. The service is excellent. I've stayed there a few times before flying south in early morning. Much more convenient than a 4 am taxi to the airport. The restaurant food is always great and because it is spread out, it's not hard to find privacy, although it can be hard to get noticed by wait staff if you sit around a corner.
Hi-tech lights come on when you enter and off when we leave. I am certain there are many more high tech features I didn't even notice. When things work really well, we don't notice them.
However, high tech often falls flat. It sometimes seems the designer never actually stayed there. The bathroom looks beautiful, but it you are sitting on the toilet - you can't see the toilet paper, and if you suffer from inability to do basic yoga poses, you can't reach it. The designer did resolve the which side out question, by tipping it on the side. So now we can argue about left and right sides instead of inside/outside.
The sink is small, inset, and rectangular. I cannot imagine trying to wash my hair, or a baby in it without hurting something.
The shower is very spacious, great for myself and wife, but... It's not possible to set the water temperature without entering. It starts with a spray, far overhead, which must be entered while testing the temperature. The door and shower head are positioned such that entry or exit while the shower is running, sprays water everywhere. Exit at the far end is not possible.
The soap holder in the shower is way down at the far end. It's a wire frame with no body, so it holds the shampoo bottles, but not the soap or a razor - both fall on the floor at the first opportunity.
The bathroom door does not quite shut... So any toilet noises travel far. More so for us, due to the fact that we never turn on the TV.
The room lights are interesting... But they throw a lot of glare and some seem intentionally set to make interesting reflections. Pretty. Yes. Functional? No.
There's a beautiful full length mirror, unfortunately right in the entrance, where I was constantly worried I might crash into it with my imbalanced extended suitcase handle.
Turning off the nightlight while in bed was another adventure. The switch is high on the wall such that I almost had to get out of bed to reach it. And that's after searching several closer locations for the switch.
My last thought applies to many hotels. King size bed. I've been married 45 years. Simply put, a king size bed keeps us too far apart. I travel a lot, sleep in a lot of hotels and beds, and know what I want - a queen size bed. But it seems rare to get one.
Nice place to visit. I wouldn't want...
Read moreJust stayed here this past weekend to celebrate our wedding anniversary again this year because we enjoyed our stay here so much last year... Once again we were blown away with how amazing this hotel and the staff are! They really went out of their way to make our anniversary unforgettable! They as usual set us up with a great deal we were able to have both parking and breakfast included in our rate which really is a phenomenal deal because you get to order your breakfast off a really impressive menu *side note the original pancakes are absolutely to die for! My husband loved them so much he even ordered a second order! We couldn't resist *i ordered the side fruit and requested melons only as I find most berries hurt my teeth (the stupidest seeds) and they were more than happy to accommodate my request. And they gave me so much it was heavenly! *our server I can't remember her name but she worked in the bar side and it was her first time working a morning type shift and serving breakfast, she was so helpful and kind I was really impressed with how helpful and attentive she was! We originally thought we would be staying in the same room we had last year which we loved but this time when we headed up to our room we were surprised we had to keep walking down the hall until we reached the very end, when we opened the door we realized they set us up with a king suite it was AMAZING! It was huge, there was a living room with thus super comfy couch and huge t.v. With floor to ceiling windows, a little kitchen space with a fridge, plenty counter space and a keurig coffee machine. The bedroom was massive with a huge t.v. Plenty of floor to ceiling windows and closet space. With a massive ensuite bathroom with a giant oversized shower! Lastly I just want to finish up with all the staff are actually so kind and helpful literally everyone from I think his name was justin (sales manager), the servers in the restaurant (as mentioned above as well), the restaurant manager who came over and talked to us at breakfast can't remember his name but he was really cool talked to my husband about working out... The front desk staff Hasitha, Minette and Shiela also so helpful and awesome left us wanting to come back ASAP. I'm sure we will be back soon for a birthday or something cause this place is well worth every penny if not for the hotel its self but for the exceptional customer service! Thank you Renaissance for consistently making our anniversary...
