DISCLAIMER: Don't be mislead by the low'ish score.....this was one of the ONLY motels that was open before the BIG OPENING in the Cavendish area in early June.
With that out of the way, it's a nice couple of cottages close to almost every whim and need you might need DURING THE PEAK SEASON....it's somewhat of another Matter during the off-season. That said, the cottages are comfortable with each one having their own propane bbq (which appeared to be in good working order).
The owner advised us that the room would be open & the key left on the counter (which it was). It was kind of cool during our visit, and the combination of electric heat and (?) Heat Pump took more than a few minutes to heat up the room.....this would unlikely be an issue during the regular season. It was borderline tolerably cool overnight.
LOTS OF WOOD! If the slight scent of cedar is a problem for you (allergies) this may be a problem.
Beds are comfortable and clean. Nearly a full-compliment of channels on the television (doubtful this would be of issue during the season).
Kitchen supplies are somewhat sparse......if you're expecting a Kurig or Tassimo, you won't find it here (there's nothing wrong with a good old fashioned drip coffee maker).
Bathroom is fine...whoever installed the mirrored medicine cabinet wanted to ensure no one stole it......about 15 long wood screws held it in place! 🤣🤣. Water pressure is pretty low....but you get hot water.
There is NO SHORTAGE of activities in the area during their summer season. In the off-season, expect to travel outside of Cavendish for food/groceries/booze.
The owner did meet us as we were departing.....pleasant fellow.
The beaches are beautiful and they're likely packed during the summer season.....in the off-season, we found a beautiful beach just a couple of miles down the road (Highway 6 Across from Cavendish...
Read moreThe BoardWalk Motel was perfectly located in Cavendish. Very, very close to walk to groceries, liquor (I don't even know er), restaurants and shopping. If you rent/have your car then it is a great starting off point to tour the whole island. Anne of Green Gables is 2minutes away on the same road and many National Parks/Beaches are close. The owner, Cameron, was very helpful, personable and friendly. We stayed only 2 nights but we wished we booked more. Our other nights in PEI were spent at a high-end hotel in Charlottetown which was no better/amazing than our stay at the Boardwalk. The rooms have a cozy, cottage-y feel and are very clean. A large fridge, coffee machine, microwave and the beds are very comfortable. Beautiful hardwood floors and a nice porch to sit on and BBQ and enjoy the beautiful summer nights. The TV has a ton of channels and access to Netflix as well. Wifi was perfect the whole time. Linen was always clean and fresh. We will definitely be coming back (when possible) and we would recommend this place to anyone looking for an incredible accommodation at an affordable price....
Read moreWe had a very poor experience with the owner and actually moved our Son , wife and grandson out two nights early as the owner was very disrespectful told us he would have to a towel that had a stain on it and that he would have to replace it?? We offered to pay for it and were informed that we were disrespectful! Apparently our grandson woke him when returning to the room at 11:30pm he was exhausted and fell asleep 10 minutes after arriving. They used the room only for sleep as they were at our rented cottage all day and evening! We moved our family out of the hotel two nights early as we felt they were not safe there. We were not offered any money back and that is fine just knowing my family was safe meant more! The owner is also very vocal about the Chinese purchasing property in the area and dislikes this!! All I can say is our cottage owner is Chinese and gave us a full cottage for our son at a great discount when he seen how...
