This place looked so promising from the outside, but unfortunately the experience of my family and I was far from ideal.
My family entered in two groups.. the first group went in around 3pm and paid almost $90 for 4 people (basically the same price as someone who came in the morning and stayed all day). What made the price harder to swallow was 1. they were never advised that they offer a CAA discount which would have saved some money and 2. The bathrooms were disgusting. If you're going to be paying that much money to get in when the park is 3 hours away from closing, you expect the place to be kept in the same shape as at opening. My $90 at 3pm is worth just as much as the person who pays it when the park first opens in the morning with clean bathrooms, and so I feel that I should be provided the same service/cleanliness. To shrug and say the bathroom is filthy because it is near the end of the day just doesn't cut it.
There was also a dirty unshaven man stumbling around ogling children and disappearing into the bushes when someone points a camera in his direction. Suuuper super sketchy if you ask me. Whatever you do, keep a firm grip on your children and keep your eyes open.
I went into the park at 4pm when there is a slightly reduced rate. It's a good time to go because the lines for the slides and rides are quite a bit shorter. It didn't hurt that some rain showers had just moved through and people were leaving. The bathrooms were still gross though.
My 7 year old nieces went to go ride the roller coaster and it wasn't until other family members checked that we realized the locking mechanism on their seat restraint bar was NOT working. The attendant (barely old enough to be able to ride herself) did not check it, and when she was called over she just shrugged and said "well I guess that ones broken then"... um ok... major safety issue.. luckily they switched cars and no one needed to be scraped off the surrounding tarmac (that day at least, I worry for the future).
The lawns on the property are poorly maintained, the ponds stink and are choked with algae and muck and one just generally gets the feeling that the ownership here is trying to cut corners and isn't particularly concerned with the well being of either the property or guests. They manage to be finicky about tiny inconsequential rules but completely neglect the major ones.
There were more issues, but at this point I don't think any more needs to be...
Read moreHad a terrible day today at Shining Waters. First when waiting in line to go down the tube water slide, witnessed the worker at the bottom of the slide being rude to all the visitors coming off the slide. Grabbing the tube from them and being generally unpleasant. Then when it was my turn to take the tube she told me i couldnt take my sunglasses up and when i tried to explain to her that my glasses were prescription and needed them to walk out of the slide she cut me off and said theres cases theres cases and i did not understand what she meant to i kept trying to finish my explanation and she finally explained to me that i could use a case from the top of the slide. When i went up to the slide i got the case from the next worker and she said to me in a rude tone « do not bring them up here again ».. i know there are plenty people who cannot see without their glasses and this is why they have the cases but the workers have an awful attitude and do not want to respectfully explain this to you. Then next there was an issue with my little sisters goggles, and it was a safety issue but she has autism so we could not take them front of her right away. The supervisor was very kind and understanding about this but again the employee who initially approached us about this was not respectful. If 3 different staff feel it is okay to treat customers this way it is clearly an issue with the company not reiterating the importance of customer service. Lastly the slides at shining waters are average at best with a fee of 32$ per day, it does not seem worth the money. Plus you have to wait in a long lineup for a tube and then wait in another lineup for the slides, this is not efficient and very unpleasant.. i went on the slides once because it was not worth it. I would suggest giving visitors a tube upon arrival in the park and have then return it...
Read moreRude staff, too long of a wait for the waterslides, not inclusive nor accessible, ridiculous rules, no rides, everything broken. DO NOT GO HERE its the park from hell and there is absolutely nothing amusing about it. Waste of time and money to just be abused and mistreated due to a disability. Disgusting place operated in a disgusting manner.
If there was a way to give zero stars I would. This is the skanky WalMart of Amusement Parks.
Most attractions are run down, broken and some even had mold and mice running through. The staff are rude, short tempered and its obvious theyd rather be anywhere else.
They also seem to have a policy where you cant wear glasses on waterslides. Even with a srap to hold them on. Well a member of our party is blind without their glasses and it would not be safe for them to not have them whe trying to enter or exit the alide. After an incredibly rude, snooty little person said they couldnt wear them even with a medical reason. This is a violation of human rights. You cannot deny people medically required equipment wothout a clear reason. Seeing that I frequent many water parks and this is the first to say someone cant have their glasses, I cant see there being a legit reason for them to enforce that rule when every other park manages just fine. Additionally the attitude from these whiny children, no not the park goers, but rather the employees, was appalling. The same person in our party has a disability and severe anxiety and panic attacks. The rude way they were treated shattered them and basically ruined our day and our trip to the island.
Shining Waters this place is not. It should be closed and their employees sent to...
