Day 2 & 3 of my road trip in Alberta Canada 🇨🇦 We stayed at @Best Western® Hotels & Resorts Port O’Call and this was one of my kids favourite hotels! The waterpark/pool was so much fun. My 2 & 5 year old loved going down the water slides. Only downfall is you have to book a time slot after 6pm for 1 hour at a time. This hotel was super kid friendly and the best part, clean. You can even get discounted tickets to some attractions in Calgary. We will definitely be back when we need a hotel in Calgary. #bestwesternhotel #calgary_yyc #roadtrips #review #waterslides #hotelpool #calgaryalberta

For a 3 star rated hotel this is one of my favourite hotels in Calgary. We splurged and stayed in a poolside room and it was worth it. We stayed in room 101, and if I stayed there again, I would pick a room at least 3 rooms farther down. As you can see in my pictures our room was right outside the little kid area. It was a bit noisy because there is a picnic table right beside our window and of course the little kids. Hahaha The convenience of having a poolside room was awesome. I enjoyed not having to walk-through a hotel in my bathing suit or have to pack extra clothes to cover up. Because of this option, I found we went swimming more than we normally would. It was very convenient to look outside your door and see if the pool was busy. I did love that you needed a key card to enter where the rooms are. I find in a lot of hotels, there is very little security on who can just be walking around. Keep in mind if you’re ordering food, you will have to go to the lobby and pick it up. I love the cleanses of this hotel, the beds and pillows are good, and the TV is a good size. So far out of all the hotels I’ve stayed in Calgary, this hotel had the biggest TV so far. I didn’t have a tape measure, but I felt like it was almost twice the size of almost all other hotels. There is only 3 negative things I can say about this hotel room. 1. Because we had a poolside room, our room smelled like chlorine. It’s probably because people come back to the room, not drying off properly and dripping all over the carpet. It would be nice if there was no carpet and that would cut the smell drastically. 2. Like I stated above, room 101 is not the best for privacy and noise level. 3. Our pool side door deadbolt on the pool side kept getting stuck so I had to call the front desk twice to get them to open the door. They responded very fast, so it wasn’t really an issue, but it would have been nice for it to work without issues. (they lock the pool side door every night, so people can’t go swimming- and that’s why the deadlock kept getting jammed) If I came back to this hotel and I stay in a different room, my rating would go to a five star.

I booked this hotel based on the pictures. The water park was obviously very appealing for my two children and I saw on the website there was a breakfast buffet but I have been mislead. First of all the water park is amazing , it was even better than the pictures to be honest but you have to book time slots. When I arrived at check in you have to decide what time slot you want. When I went to go to the pool I forgot my bracelet so I had to go back to my room to grab them and go back down. The elevator was so busy because it is so busy here. There are no change rooms at the water park and I didn’t know that so my baby and I got changed in the little bathroom. There is no change table so i had to lay towels down on the sink and get her changed and hope she didn’t roll off the counter while I got changed out in the open because if I went into the stall I would have had to put my baby on the nasty pool floor. By that time we finally got into the pool and had maybe 10-15 minutes in the water and the workers came around with whistles blowing them constantly kicking everyone out of the pool. I spent a lot of money on this hotel and I only got maybe 15 minutes to swim. Also the breakfast buffet is NOT free unlike most hotels. I just saw a sign in the lobby that the breakfast buffet is $35 per adult and it says it’s half that price for kids 4-11. So after paying for my expensive room and getting kicked out of the pool I am expected to pay $87 for the breakfast for my family or go somewhere else. Very disappointing and misleading. The rest of the facility is alright , we had dinner at jets lounge and the food was decent , service was decent. The room is fairly clean minus the sofa bed cushions and a couple stray hairs in the tub (I was a housekeeping manager for 6+ years at a hotel so I am fairly picky). I was pleasantly surprised by the heated indoor parking even though the parkade was super busy I was thankful to have that because it’s very cold today. I would have rated this hotel better had we not been kicked o ur...
