I'm a huge chocolate fan, always on hunt for new chocolate spots and came across them via online search. Visited their store and the owner is very professional, very knowledgeable about chocolate in general and their products.
I ordered their famous drinking chocolate to which he added their super light foamy whipping cream on top and it was dope. The chocolate had nice thickness to its consistency and wasn't over-sweet at all whatsoever. Many places have runny and very thin drinking chocolate but not the case here, these guys really buy high quality chocolate and even from a single origin and single plantation.
Later I ordered ten truffles through their website and the order was ready next day morning, made to order which helps to retain the quality of these truffles. The dark chocolate flavor truffle with toasted almonds was quite good, truffle itself had nice consistency and flavor to it. I'd prefer them without any dippings but there wasn't any choice so had to go with almonds. The caramel truffles had nice light caramel filling inside and they were not sticky or over sweet at all. I'd order same flavors again.
They also have once a month chocolate tasting event at their store on Wednesday for a fixed price which goes for few hours and you can taste all their chocolate varieties in that.
I'm slightly disappointed with the brownie as it sort of crumbles apart upon warming up after few seconds in microwave. I had from bad to some really good quality brownies, but never seen a brownie with corn syrup as one of its ingredient so that was quite surprising to me.
The store itself is very clean, well lit and products are easy to identify. Hopefully, one day, they can offer 100% dark chocolate barsš
Overall, it's a great local business which should be supported...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreOk I get why there are some rough reviews on here about this place but short of dandelion cafe in Tokyo, this is some of the best chocolate I have ever had here in Canada. I am not a chocolate fiend, I am someone who when I want real true carefully made chocolate I will pay the price. They are expensive get that threw your head before you go! Don't go here expecting the price of a kit Kat, they do everything in house start to finish and that costs money. I got 6 truffles, 2 drinking chocolate bags, and a porcelana bar and yes it was $47 for it all please keep in mind the bar was $22 of that. But if you know diddly about good chocolate you know how rare this chocolate is and how hard it is to procure. It is amazing and yes it is possible to get a spoiled truffle because they use real ingredients but you can taste how real they are (the keylime one is amazing and so is the espresso one) there is care involved again which costs money. The only reason i leave the 4 star is because I feel like it could be more intuitive when you enter about what you are looking at for the average person like little info placards or something however the person who helped me was a delight! The area to shop is also very small and wouldnt be able to handle more then probably 6 people. Other then that I was happy and will be back but this is a place for true truffle lovers or people who care about good true chocolate lovers, it may be a place to avoid if your definition if good chocolate is Lindt. Thank you again I...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreThe chocolate is very tasty, pricey but it is boutique bean to bar specialty store so that is to be expected - I can't imagine it is a cheap process! (if you sign up for emails, they do have periodic discounts on truffles and occasionally multi-bar packs so that's a bonus - though I do wish there were more discounts on the actual bars without having to purchase a large number).
The 3 stars is for poor customer service. The owner has been quite arrogant, condescending, mocking and rude in the few interactions I've had over the years (both of customers and of other businesses). I've also had repeated issues with online ordering - to which the staff is apologetic but basically say, "it's a glitchy system, that's just how it is, we've reported repeatedly it but we have no power to fix it ." You will likely not get a confirmation email when orders are placed, but they do expect you to pick up the order anyway. Don't just show up when it is supposed to be ready though - it may not be ready yet - and don't expect them to let you know it's ready like pretty much ever other company will - just make sure you call first and confirm. According to the owner, emails to confirm that orders are ready for pick up are 'babysitting' and not just good business practice. Doesn't change that the chocolate is good, I just think they could be more customer focussed and respectful, (rather than the current vibe that people are...
