Our stay here was the whole family for a hockey tournament. A seasoned business traveler, I was dreading being part of "that" group, but the Canalta staff seemed to have everything in check. Check in was a breeze, we arrived late and staff was readily available. Room was great. Spacious, pull out couch already made up when opened, small 'kitchen' with microwave & fridge, a spacious closet and dresser. The desk was nice, ample power outlets for anything you could need. It seems odd but the trend these days is to have everything open, and I adored having closed spaces to keep the room tidy. Am in-room ironing board got a workout as a gear drying rack. Breakfast is fantastic with rotating hot items and all the usual cold fare. None of the dishes/cups/cutlery were single use, nice to see! There was only one staff running the breakfast area though, which included cycling those dishes, cooking and topping up the hot options, and keeping stock up on everything else. She was run off her feet but managing! As a kids hockey team, of course we made use of the pool. All great quality and a unique space layout. The staff was present frequently to check capacity and safety and restock towels, and I saw them after hours doing chemical maintenance too. The conference room was booked but our team was able to utilize the breakfast space for a pizza party dinner which was most appreciated. Staff was helpful getting extra trash bags so we could tidy up too. We made use of the pantry area as well, there's a great selection of snacks and food as well as toiletries and necessities. There was also board games and books available to borrow. We didn't make use of the laundry facility but checked it out and it's clean and tidy with space to fold and iron. The elevator worked great, the stairs were well-lit and tidy as an alternative. The back door was secure but easy to access for additional parking and the back overlooks rural space instead of the city. LOADS of restaurants as well as a gas station and big grocery store...
Read moreI booked a hotel room for my boyfriend, in-laws, and our pitbull puppy. Girlie was so accommodating and friendly. We talked on the phone probably four times until I decided which type of room I wanted and for how many nights. Her commitment to making sure we had the most comfortable and affordable stay was recognized.
The hotel is aesthetically nice, has a decent complementary breakfast in the morning, and there is amble parking. I felt respected and welcomed my entire stay.
I brought in my dog and did not feel discriminated at all. Not because I had a dog and definitely not because I had a pitbull. Staff didn't say one thing about her - she was just as much of a guest as I was. It was ~$16 pet fee but it was so worth it to be able to bring our new addition along with us.
I would definitely come back here. Highly recommend it. We also went to the pool area and used the hot tub. The waterslide and small pool are pretty standard for hotels - nothing too wild. It was clean and had lots of towels. If we had children with us it would probably be very fun for them to use the waterslide. The hot tub is just a nice little bonus.
My only one thing that I will say was in my room the cleanliness appeared fine. However, in the morning I found (via it being in my dog's mouth!) a big piece of someone's nail. As if someone had nail polish on and peeled off the nail of nail polish. So that was really gross. Also she found a wrapper from a mint. I realize other people stay in these hotel rooms - but people don't generally like to think about someone else being there before them. So... I would dock it some points for cleanliness.
The hotel staff too were mostly nice. Girlie was the nicest and most accommodating. The night staff last night was nice enough. And helpful. The young woman who served the breakfast this morning - well she didn't talk to us or greet us so I have no idea, but she didn't come off as inviting...
Read moreWonderful hotel! I stayed for one night with my 6yr old son, and it was a great experience. As soon as we walked in we were greeted warmly, checked in quickly and told the important info we needed. The entire hotel is very clean, you can tell they take this very seriously. They have a cute little concession where I bought my son a bag of chips for the night, with other essentials if you happen to forget toothpaste, Tylenol etc. The room we had was on the 3rd floor facing the field which was a great view, and the room was spotless ( housekeeping lady named Dawn had our room, fantastic job!!) and was a very comfortable temperature upon entering, I didn't need to adjust anything. The beds were very comfortable and the shower had great pressure. We went and played at the pool, which was also very clean and had lots of towels available. We used the stairwell to return to our room from the pool and even they were spotless, which often gets overlooked in other hotels as it isn't an area that guests often use. Good job! The breakfast was great, it had hot items as well as cold items, and we loved the perfectly cooked bacon and the waffle area. It has a great assortment of items to choose from, I think this is the absolute best breakfast I have ever had included in a hotel stay in my life.|Well done Canalta, I will definitely stay here if I am in the area again, and highly recommend this hotel...
