We stayed at The Lake House with our two teenage boys, and thoroughly enjoyed our stay. It was a minimum 2-night stay in the summer, and we’re SO pleased it was as it was so relaxing after the first week of touring the Rockies - we could have easily stayed another night if we had known beforehand.
The rooms are beautifully presented and look out to the lake.
We loved the time on the water in the canoes and kayak - all free to use whenever you like. The boys would have been on them all day given the chance but the weather closed in on the afternoon (very rare as nearly always sunny there!).
There are so many options to sit in the garden or sit looking over the lake with a coffee/glass of wine. So peaceful. We spotted a painted turtle, and also an Eagle perched on top of a tree in the centre of the lake. Binoculars are also provided in each room for you to borrow which was a great bonus.
There’s also a nice secluded area with a pergola and garden furniture and equipment to have your own bbq.
The hosts are so lovely too. Very welcoming and friendly and make you feel at home. They even offered some great tips for the remaining week we had travelling.
If you want a good place to eat and you enjoy BBQ’d type food then try the Hop n Hog. Very tasty! Whilst they take walk-ins there’s often a big queue, so its better to pre-book if you can as they can run out of food! It’s about a 20minute walk from The Lake House but worth it! We wished we’d eaten there both nights.
So….if you are looking for a bit of peace and tranquility, away from the hustle and bustle then in our opinion this is definitely the place to stay. Truly relaxing. You would never know that the main hub of Clearwater is only a few minutes away. Would we stay again? Yes. 100% we...
Read moreWe wished we’d stayed another day or two! This property felt like paradise having a tranquil, peaceful lake to enjoy whether it was from our room or sitting on the private terrace, the lawn chairs or lounging on the dock. The location was perfect, a few minutes drive to restaurants/stores and the entrance to the incredible Wells Gray Park. We stayed in the middle suite which was very clean, well appointed and exceeded our expectations with quality linens, a very comfortable bed, sofa, chair, and a good sized bathroom with a large luxury shower area. We thoroughly enjoyed having delicious breakfasts brought right to our patio each morning. All of the amenities were well thought out to make our stay perfect; a small fridge and microwave, coffee/tea machine with supplies and even plates, bowls and cutlery if you decide you want to eat in your suite or at the private barbecue area close to the lake. And lastly but most memorable for us was Mavis, a fantastic host, who not only was very helpful in giving us great information on hiking and restaurants, she made us feel special and very welcome. We will definitely be back for a longer stay and highly recommend...

The view stretched down to a peaceful pier on the calm waters of Dutch Lake—pure serenity.|After breakfast, we took a short drive (with about 14 kms on a bumpy forestry road) to hike the stunning Trophy Mtn. The trail led us through a breathtaking alpine meadow bursting with wildflowers—an unforgettable sight.|Back at our suite, we freshened up and followed Mavis’s excellent recommendation to dine at the Hop n Hog Tap and Smokehouse. The food was fantastic!|Later, we kayaked on the lake and sipped wine on the dock, surrounded by nature’s drama—bald eagles battling loons, cranes fishing, ducks, turtles, and even a muskrat making its rounds. It was a beautiful blend of wildness and peace on a lily padded lake.|The king-size bed was incredibly comfortable, and the owners were thoughtful and attentive to every detail. This place...
