This was horrendous!! We only needed a one night stop in Clearwater and unfortunately many B&Bs needed a 2 night stay and I wish I had booked at the motel further up. This place is a dump, I can't be any more positive. From the look of the photo of a sofa from a previous review, I think they were unlucky enough to get the same room as us. People said it had been refurbished!! Where?? How?? Some nasty lino and a bad paint job whilst throwing in some ridiculous bad taste furniture is not a refurbishment!!! The whole place needs not just money but also taste!!! The setting could be better utilised. The garden furniture was filthy, there's bits of disbanded building work going on, you can see in everyone else's rooms and actually some parts down to the lake are dangerous. Our room (103) had a revolting bathroom with disgusting grout/sealant, there was a heater on the floor which was stained with God knows what (dread to think) and the sink was in a recess outside the bathroom so you had to come out to wash your hands then go back in to dry them as nowhere near the sink for a towel!! Ridiculous. Honestly couldn't wait to leave and to think they asked for a security deposit!! Seriously if you have booked already...
Read moreIf you’ve ever wondered what it’s like to stay on the set of a low-budget horror film, look no further than Hotel Civilia Lakeside.|Hotel Civilia Lakeside. Except the “lakeside” part must be a typo, because there’s no access to the lake. If you actually want to touch water, you’ll need to walk down the road to the public beach.||The “clean” dishes in our room were a charming archaeology project: who used this coffee cup before us? We may never know, but we do know it wasn’t washed. Bonus points for the hair in places hair should never be and the towel racks that surrendered to gravity long ago. The shower head sprayed like a rogue garden hose, the baseboards hadn’t seen a rag since the last Ice Age, and yes — there were insects to keep us company.||Breakfast? Oh, it’s included… just 8 kilometers away. Nothing says “good morning” like hopping in your car to chase down a slice of toast.||No lake access. No cleanliness. No reason to ever return. We couldn’t get out fast enough, and I’ve never been so thrilled to check into literally anywhere else.||If I could rate it lower, I’d give it negative stars. Save yourself the therapy bill and just camp in your car or backyard. See...
Read morePersonally this place wasn't terrible, the ONLY issue I have are the beds. They are not comfortable at all. All three of us kept tossing and turning because of the discomfort and we aren't ones to complain about beds. I am usually very good sleeping on any surface, but this one especially, I felt pain. And we started noticing the toilet leaking, so hopefully they fix it once we're gone.
Other than that, the rooms were very clean and they had the essentials: microwave and mini fridge, so if you're looking to bring refrigerated food go for it!
The team were friendly which is a plus because it means they take care of their business.
The motel is sitting in front of a lake which is also a nice plus because if you're wanting to relax in front of a lake, you don't need to go too far. They have daily rentals for kayaks/ canoes and they offer complimentary bikes.
And the biggest plus, it is a short distance from the main places and the provincial park!
Would I stay here again, that's a maybe due to the beds, but if they weren't a problem I would...
