As soon as we pulled up for a 3-night stay here, we were so excited to see the beautiful white stucco and green trimmed exterior. The location is fantastic in Corner Brook, too. But, our excitement faded the more we worked our way into the hotel. Let me be clear here, too. We travel all over the place in North America, and we almost always opt to stay in historic hotels rather than newer buildings. We prefer this kind of place, but we do have some expectations that the hotel has had a few renovations and is clean. We didn't get either of those impressions at the Glynmill. When I reserved our room for three nights, I don't think it was completely clear that I was not getting a room in the original part of the hotel. I think we were in an added wing that was definitely not as old as the main front part of the hotel. Our room was huge... a junior suite, I think, that was about half the size of our whole house! However, everything in it just looked dated and worn out. It was dark, and the lighting wasn't great. We did have our own private balcony with sliding door, but zero furniture on it to sit out there and enjoy. Just weird. The king size bed was very comfortable, I will say that. And, even sleeping with the windows open every night, it was very quiet. My wife found a few long hairs stuck to the shower wall, so that was a big red flag for not being entirely clean. We paid extra to get the breakfast-with-room option, and went down our first morning to get breakfast. You get to pick one of two options, so we both picked the eggs that comes with a meat and toast plus coffee. The scrambled eggs were really over-cooked. I almost never see that anywhere. Then, to top it all off when my wife reached for the salt shaker on the table it had yet another hair wrapped around it. Was there a wig maker convention staying here before us? Good grief, so unappealing. We were so "meh'd" after that breakfast, we just skipped the other two mornings and went out to find something elsewhere in town. We did grab a couple of extremely expensive Quidi Vidi Iceberg beers in the bar one night and sit on the outdoor patio, which was not too bad. I will also say that having the beautiful Glynmill Pond and Corner Brook Stream Trail right out of your front door is fantastic. We did enjoy that. ||To be very clear here, I do not think my review should really reflect the quality of the staff and team working here at the inn. Every person was very friendly and nice to us. I think the shortcomings here at the Glynmill are a direct reflection of poor management and lack of renovation by the Steele Hotels group. My wife said that after this experience, we would probably never stay in another hotel owned by that group. I agree. If we return to Corner Brook, we won't be staying here. If you're going to Corner Brook, there is a much better option not too far...
Read moreMy husband and I spent two nights at the Glynmill Inn in the middle of September 2025.|I had accident a couple of days prior, which resulted in a broken bone in my right foot and I was unable to weight bear, so I was using an aircast walking boot to immobilize the foot and crutches. My mobility issues were very obvious!|With some difficulty, we managed to get me up the front stairs to the reception area. There was no signage indicating there was a ramp at the back of the building and the reception staff did not make us aware of the ramp. The room they assigned us was #245, which those familiar with the hotel, will recognize as being one of the rooms furthest from the elevator. Likely the furthest I have ever experienced from an elevator at any hotel. Unfortunately we were not aware of the length of the trek until we started the journey to the room. Granted, I had made the reservation prior to my injury, but incorrectly assumed that because of the obvious injury, they would attempt to give us a room close to the elevator or explain that no other rooms were available.|With the exception of the carpet, the room was clean, adequate space, large bathroom and the bed was very comfortable.|The next morning my husband located the ramp.|We asked reception staff about a detour route, because of road construction in Corner Brook, and were given incorrect information.|When we returned from our day excursion, we told the reception staff we were parked in their handicapped parking space by the ramp, at the back of the building.|We were informed we could not park there without a provincial gov't parking permit and they could not provide us with a temporary paper hotel authorization for one night. They suggested we go up to the hospital and attempt to get a disability parking pass from them. After that conversation, other than checking out, we saw no point in communicating with them any further. |The dining room staff were excellent and our breakfasts were very good. |Fortunately I was travelling with my husband who was able to check the facility for accessibility, drop me off, pick me up and park the vehicle.|The Glynmill did email us a link to a survey regarding our stay, but we have been unable to open the link.|Our experience with the Glynmill reception was in sharp contrast the excellent service we received from all the other service providers we encounter on our trip to...
Read moreYour dining room does not deserve even a star for the night we're there. We had the worst meal of our Newfoundlandlabrador trip here. The worst service. There was a bus tour however it does not excuse the almost rude service and interaction with the servers. We did not have reservations and we called and we were told to come on over. No mentioned that the dining room was overly busy. After a day of touring we we very hungry and looking forward to a nice relaxing meal. Once we arrived we waited to be seatted and ordered drinks and served fairly quickly then we waited and waited for our server to returned for our food order which was a good 10/12 minute wait. Then we waited another 1/2 hour for a meal that was subpar for a place like the Glynmill Inn. The plates were put on the table in haste and when I asked for bread our server stated "sorry we were very busy and ran out" and procedded to leave as fast as he could and I stopped him and asked about my rice that was supposed to be rice pilaf, it was more like minute rice with a bunch of green peppers thrown on the side not even mixed. The salmon plates we had ordered (3 of them) were all cooked subpar. One was even undercooked and raw. Seeing I was taking my daughter and friend out for super and that my daughter did not want me to push the issue we left without saying how awful and dissapointing our meal was. Imagine the sad meal plus no bread....what a joke. So I will never recommend this place to eat to anyone, there are better places to eat in Corner Brook. Sorry Glynmill you missed the mark on...
