Lobby entrance is weak. Drove into the parking lot and started to make my way around the side of the building in an attempt to find the lobby entrance. As it turns out it's immediately on the the left as you pull in off the highway. No "Lobby" signage. Ice, slush, snow and dripping water all around the entrance to the lobby. No automatic door for the ease of bringing your bags in. Keep one arm free for opening the doors. Careful not to slip!
The pool room was cold. Bring a jacket to watch the kids.
Nice bubble hockey table, but what a shame it doesn't function properly. A little maintenance or repair is required. One player doesn't spin, a second player will rotate at a sloth's pace, but if you're an adult you can lift one side of the table high enough that gravity will allow the puck to slide to a player that can move the puck around. On a positive note, the teams are evenly matched. Both Right Wingers are the non functioning pilons that CAN move, north / south directions. Audible feature only has the 3rd period.
Rooms are nice. Clean and modern. The TV seemed to be mounted a little low. I couldn't read the lower banner on a news station because my wallet was on the counter. There is a table in the corner, though - easy fix.
I found the bed to pillow combo was wrong. At least for me. The bed was comfy and soft, but the pillow was thick and perky. It reminded me of camping when I was young. Having a ciesta, on a sunny afternoon, soaking up some sun and using a log or a rock to prop up my head. Good for an hour or so, but not much more. I guess it allowed me an opportunity to provide some feedback, at 4 in the morning, while my family got some sleep.
I think the next time that the highway closes and I'm forced to stay in Cranbrook I'll drive past this particular Best Western and try my luck...
Read moreBooked for grand daughters 3rd birthday on March 22 2024, as she loves hotels and pools. Booked this hotel, because it had heated indoor pool and adjoining rooms.
We booked adjoining rooms as we travelled with 2 families. This option was available with online booking, then checked with followup phone call.
Upon arrival, adjoining rooms are not an option.
Then told that breakfast is not included with booking.
So we as a large group head to the heated indoor pool with 3 grandchildren in tow to play have fun. Instead the pool room is extremely cold maybe +5c. Get in the water and it's even colder. we stayed for 3 minutes as we all got changed and the kids were excited about a pool. Well, we all left shivering cold, went to room and put kids in the tub to warm up. Later headed to MacDonald's to get some hot coffee and hot chocolate to warm up. Headed to Boston Pizza to have a great birthday celebration. Went to the local public pool in the morning and everyone had a great time.
In all services listed at time of booking are a sham we found after arrival. It's just a hotel room like any other, but more money
I'm sure some manager is getting a bonus for saving money by reducing the heat in the pool and cancelling breakfast included.
In all overpriced and dissappointing
A mismanaged opportunity for Cranbrook.
Book somewhere else and use local restaurants and the public pool, as it's heated, you...
Read moreI'm giving it one star because the room was very nice. However, the desk staff are horrid. We were staying one night, booked ahead one day and were quoted a rate for double occupancy. Emailed a quote right away with the number of people showed two for the quoted rate. So far, so good. Then after a very long day and 4 hours driving, went to check in. Was told that rate was for single only. Which was not what we were told. When we said this and showed them the confirmation, we were told the guy was new and we were making a scene. Since we were tired and knew that getting another room somewhere else at this time would be next to impossible, we paid the higher rate. I doubt we'll ever see that money again. Very rude and incompetent. Have to wait until the morning to speak to a Manger. Do not stay here!! There are many fine hotels up the road, which have pleasant and efficient staff who will not try to rob you. Update: on check out we tried to talk to the supervisor, assistant manager or manager to be told no one is available until the weekend. We resigned to the fact we were going lose the difference in the rates, since managers never bother following up on these thing. Then Sherye stepped in and fixed everything. She is an absolute rock star who knew the policies and provided excellent customer service. If they had seven more people like her this would be an excellent place to stay. She deserves a...
