**edited to add - the smoke detector was NOT in the room but added later by the owner to photograph which makes me even more upset that he is trying to gaslight us and you into believing his lies. For a business owner to straight out lie in a text is beyond disgusting. And I just looked up the price of a BRAND NEW TOILET at $189 so charging $100 for a 45 year old piece of a lid is beyond.
If you’ve read this and stay there anyway… I’m sorry I couldn’t convince you and I hope your experience is markedly better than ours. I will NEVER stop telling people how awful this experience was.
We chose to spend one night here due to a big wind storm and not wanting to be in a tent during that weather. Price was expensive ($180 including a fee for two dogs) but expected. Room was aged but clean. The room was lacking basic safety equipment - predominantly there was no smoke detector, completely illegal in a motel. We covered the beds with sheets so dog hair wouldn’t transfer and were quietly in bed before 10pm - the room next to us however partied and had guests over knocking on doors until 2:30 am so sleep was non existent. After turning down the heat and turning lights off as requested we returned our key and boarded the ferry. At this point we were contacted by the owner saying he was charging us $100 plus tax for damage to the toilet - which had stopped flushing and required inside access to the tank to reset - my setting the lid down cracked it. I certainly wasn’t violent and this indicates to me previous wear and tear on a PINK toilet that was made 40 years ago. Making a guest pay $112 for a toilet purchased that long ago?
Also he is flat out lying to us trying to say there was a smoke detector in the room.
Do not ever ever ever stay here....
