Late night meal before taking the ferry off Haida Gwaii. As mentioned in other reviews, they are understaffed so wait times for your meal can be a bit long (45 minute wait for my order and upon arrival, someone was wanting to pay and leave since something they ordered was taking too long however the restaurant made up for it my comping the dish they were waiting on). My partner and I ordered Kappa maki (cucumber roll), miso soup, vegtable yaki-soba, and the Haida Gwaii roll. Everything was tasty and given to us in a cloth takeout bag which was nice. Chopsticks were included in the bag but no soy sauce packets which maybe were available at the front of the restaurant but I just didn't see them? The vegtable yaki-soba had thicker noodles than I expected (description was thin egg noodles) made me wonder how thick the yaki-udon noodles were. Overall decent meal on the island and nice end to the trip prior of the ferry travel. Edit: Forgot to add that the food was delicious. The rolls were tasty and my partner finished the entire Haida Gwaii roll which is rare. Miso was super nice with the rainy weather and the kappa maki and veg yaki-soba was flavorful and well done overall!

During the no dine-in phase, we decided to do a couple of take-outs from this place. So far, everything we ordered is very good! Most of the sushi rolls we have had taste fresh and most likely using local seafood here in Haida Gwaii. The Yakisoba has a good flavour to it, and the lunch and dinner boxes have generous servings in them - making it one of our favourite shares. Even the sides dishes are well made - the miso soup has good umami taste, the tempura prawns are good as well. The service is courteous and they are usually right on their estimated 20 minutes of preparation for your order. All in all, we would be back here again if we crave some good sushi.

First time I've eaten Japanese food and it was interesting and delicious. Miso soup was really something I enjoyed with the contrasting flavour of the rice noodles served alongside

I settled on a 2 star review, as I could not in good conscious leave 1-star due to the food being pretty good and the staff being friendly. The Assorted tempura and the Haida Gwaii roll were particularly good.

However, our particular experience with the service was very poor. Nobody took our order for around 30 min despite the restaurant not being at full capacity. It's worth noting the debit/visa machines were down and perhaps they were short staffed or something. Regardless, our meal took around 2 hours in total, with our food coming out in sporadic intervals over the span of 1.5 hrs, with appetizers arriving at the end and our friends getting their dishes well after we had finished ours.

The cost was also higher than I anticipated. I'm aware it's remote here, though a standard tuna or salmon...
