This was our 2nd time staying here. I had hoped that when a resort opens up to serve guests, after all restrictions have been eliminated, that they are truly ready to provide a seamless experience. With over 40 years of timeshare experience, we have seen the ups and downs of many varied timeshares. A standard must be maintained throughout the year and specific staff member should respect those conditions without hesitancy. The sauna that sits by the pool has, according to one helpful service person, not working for over 2 years. We now pay a weekly fee for general maintenance and amenities on top of our own club maintenance fees and additional exchange fees. Expectations are simple...have everything working like other resorts do, have bbq's cleaned and working without excuses as propane works all year long (2 out of 9 were able to start without using additional methods, all were dirty from the summer/fall). Covid reasons only go so far. Neglecting to repair a sauna for an extended time is not acceptable. Telling a guest that a heavily salted foyer carpet (in the unti) will be changed AFTER we leave is insulting and not called for. (This was changed during our time there but the unnecessary attitude was out there). Staying ahead of a guests needs means proactive work is done seemlessly without these kind of issues not being addressed and then defended with attitude and seasonal excuses. I hope that this jump starts a better attitude / hands on training effort and a comprehensive look at the services supplied in relation to upgrades and amenities currently provided. Many years have passed but this was our 2nd visit to this location.
Followup: Appreciate the Owner prompt response to my commentary BUT going forward heed the experience/knowledge provided and actually face the issues brought up and your resort will reap the benefits in no time at all. A positive responsive approach to guests for simple requests, like many many other resorts, have ready to go cleaned bbq all year long (many winter holidays where bbq's are always in use, replace items such as heavily salted carpets ( it's a bad look and a health hazard for little children who love to touch and explore), upgrade those towels in the units and upsized them at the pool. Sauna should be fixed asap after all the time that has passed. The gym is great for this size resort, ping pong table is excellent, air hockey and pool table should be free for guests with a max of 3 games..etc. I would return if others started commenting about improvements like just mentioned. I recently stayed at Sun Peaks,B.C. and the property was smaller, similar in age but it had nothing negative to comment on and the manager was truly hands on in every aspect, budgeting time, money and guests needs in all the right places. I hope this gives...
Read moreI am reporting a complaint with Calabogie Lodge Resort. My name is Stephen Bourque and I am a retired CF pensioner. I made an online booking and 50 % credit card deposit with Calabogie Resort on 06 August 2024 for 1 night stay for myself and my wife for the evening of 03 September 2024. We would be traveling from Edmonton that day by air and rental vehicle and it was my idea to find a nice place to stay overnight for us to sleep and some leisure time by the lake. We were enroute to visit family in Petawawa for a week. I got buyers remorse when I read the fine print and saw that checkout was 10 AM. My wife is ambulatory with a cane and takes pills for heart failure that are not agreeable with a 10 AM checkout (we always request a 12 noon checkout) I called to cancel the very next day. I was told by the manager they would not refund because they have a 30 day non refundable policy. If this is not illegal it should be. They had no recourse for me so OK, we will try to make the best of it. On Sept 03 Jane and I landed in Ottawa at 630 PM. Our luggage was late on the carousel and it was 8pm by the time we got our rental vehicle. We arrived in Calabogie at 10 PM and it was dark of night and we are tired, and travel weary impaired. There is no one on duty after 9 PM to give us a room key at Lodge reception and I didn't see the instructions posted for late arrivals (travel weary impaired) at the front entrance. I called the phone number I had for the resort front desk, twice, and got no answer. By now it's 1030 PM. Luckily, we were able to get accomodations at a local hotel at that late hour. They charged my credit card for the remaining balance the very next day without checking us in even though I made every effort to get to the resort in a timely manner and they knew in advance we were travelling from Edmonton Alberta, that day. We feel we didn't receive any consideration or the customer service we needed and want our money back. My bank records show 2 separate charges from Calabogie Lodge against my credit card...
Read moreI almost want to gatekeep this location. We stayed over a long weekend & have already booked for next year.
If you are after a great spot as a young family, this is it. We stayed in a 1 bedroom unit with our two young kids. For what the unit lacks in "updates," it makes up for in its significant size. You aren't getting that space in similar types of places anywhere, anymore.
Our one bedroom unit had a stacked washer & dryer behind a closet in one of the unit's TWO bathrooms. The kitchen is a true full kitchen with a dishwasher, oven, toaster, and all the necessities you'd need. On top of this, each cluster of units has a couple of BBQs for use; closer to the lake there's a lovely patio area with a batch of BBQs for use.
The kitchen had a large wooden table. The living room had a pull out couch and a comfy chair, as well as a Samsung tv alongside an electronic fireplace. Out of the living room there was a huge balcony facing the lake with a small table.
From the living room you moved into the main bedroom, which featured storage and another tv, and a king bed. Lots of pillows on offer, and a couple of closets for use. The master bathroom had been renovated as it was incredibly clean & modern. Nice sunken bathtub & a waterfall shower here. Also, another balcony off of the bedroom.
🍃 Grounds 🍃 In the main building, there was a nicely warm indoor pool. You could also exit the pool area and use the docks to enter into the lake if you chose.
There was also a basic games room, with each game costing $1 (air hockey, foosball) and a simple gym. We didn't use the on site restaurant.
We did sign out a canoe one morning. They provide plenty of life jackets. They also have double-seated pedal boats, kayaks & sup boards. They also have a tennis/pickleball court just outside of the resort.
In other sections of the resort, we saw horseshoes & a volleyball court set up. Closer to the lake, they had a swing set and then a larger playground set right up onto the beach. Within the lake, the resort had a...
