Stopped when got tired to drive towards Regina, wary if anything would be open after midnight. Ended up filling the tank at Petro-Canada in Kindersley and staying right there at the Centennial Motel behind the gas station, as it had "Open" sign on the doors. The guy behind the counter, though looking a bit surprised to see us at such a late hour, was welcoming and friendly. Motel was quite shabby-looking from the outside, but the room was clean and surprisingly had everything you may need - two beds, two chairs, a round table, mini-fridge with a good freezer, microwave and a coffeemaker with tea and coffee. Everything in good working order and most of appliances plugged in a cord extender outlet with enough space to plug your own devices - this was a nice touch and showed the owner cared about what matters to guests nowadays. Two hangers looked funny (clearly, we had more stuff to hang) but given a location of the motel it was justified. Shampoo-conditioner squeezed from a bathroom wall-mounted dispenser had a pleasant smell and didn't excessively dry the skin. Water was hard, though, like in Radium Hot Springs and in Calgary, so taking moisturizing lotion with you on a trip is a must. Vents in the room blew warm air - it was only 11C outside. Central HVAC system did not allow to set your own temperature but its quietness was a definite advantage vs. a separate ac/heater unit. Beds were comfortable and shower head had different settings - perfect to massage both neck and back after a long drive. Water pressure was great. Free wi-fi worked. The only deficiency I could find was that both beds were put too close to walls, so there was hardly enough space for an adult sleeping by the wall to squeeze through. Kids would manage well, though. Overall, limited space was used very effectively and everything was convenient. Excellent value for $...
Read moreIf you're a fan of horror movies, this motel is perfect for you! The bedroom has a "you're trapped here, pray that the serial killer doesn't know your room number" vibe. The room didn't have a deadbolt, making it a fun adventure for the family trying to use items in the room to secure the door. The dusty fan on the wall was a nice touch, really helped add to the prison atmosphere. Random items in the shelves (a single 9v battery, an old smoke detector, random books, etc) gives you the extra push to survive knowing the previous prisoners didn't make it. What took me out of the whole experience was the guy at the front end, he was very friendly and helpful, which for a moment made me forget I was supposed to be scared.
In all seriousness, it's an $80 motel off the highway you stay at because you're too tired to keep driving. Doesnt actually feel unsafe unless youve never stayed at a cheap motel. You get a bed, a bathroom, coffee, with friendly staff. Don't...
Read moreWe stayed here for a night and found it to be a decent room for a reasonable rate. The room was renovated and had modern decor, including a small kitchenette. The bathroom had a very good shower and tub. The sink was a little short on shelf space. The room was a bit cramped for two people, as one side of the bed was against the wall, making it difficult for getting in and out of bed, and the tv was awkwardly placed by the window. There was a table and chair on the open side of the bed. Maybe a room with two beds would be better. Good for a short stay; clean and quiet. The manager was friendly and very helpful with directions for getting to places around town.||There is a fair amount of space outside on the property, but no chairs or benches to sit on outside; on a nice evening, this would be a...
