So a few things about this place.
First of all, it is close to the highway here in Markham. But it's relatively quiet, and a quick hop onto the highway will get you to pretty much wherever you need to go, if you're driving, which if you're staying here, it is highly recommended to do.
Our first few days here were okay. However, near the tail end of our trip, the service wasn't very good. In one of the days, after a long day, we came back to our hotel home, only to find out that two out of the three beds (one was a couch converted into a bed) wasn't made, even though it was supposed to be (house keeping to be done every other day here, but you CAN request a daily housekeeping) were not made. Only the middle bed was made by the time we got back to our hotel.
A little disappointed by this, we initially decided not to do anything about it. BUT, we decided at the end that we were going to the front desk to ask for house cleaning to be done the next day. Again, we went out all day, only to come back to our hotel room late evening, only to find out that AGAIN, the two beds were not made. Only ONE of the three beds were made.
We are a little confused, and perplexed at this. Why wasn't the two other beds made, and only one? There is no explanation, and we decided not to go to the front desk to question this. Only thing I can conclude is laziness from the person(s) who was supposed to "clean" our room.
I'm a little disappointed about the service. This is MARRIOT. So their reputation should be one that is of excellence, but this Marriot doesn't seem to live up to those lofty standards, especially the cleaning part.
So for anyone who is considering staying here. I would caution, if you expect cleanliness, and a higher standard of service, you will not be getting it here. That has NOT been our experience the last two days here, which is very strange and odd. Perhaps management needs to get a hold of their staff, because I wonder now if we're the only ones experiencing this, or whether this is a regular occurence with other travelers and guests staying here.
UPDATE: We also noticed that the towels seem like the hotel workers (house keeping) just picked them up from the floor and re-hung them. We keep finding hairs, so it looks like their laundry either isn't very clean, and other people's hairs are getting onto "clean" towels. The management at Marriot needs to get a hold of this issue, as uncleanliness is a major turnoff for us, and possibly for...
Read moreI WILL NEVER RETURN HERE! The noise is so annoying and the disappearing items is a big issue. Spent almost $250 for a special occasion one night stay here. Upon arrival the staff were friendly but unfortunately thats where the positives end. The hotel had large groups of families with young children from a hockey tournament staying here. Everywhere you turned there were groups of young children unsupervised, running around screaming in the hallways (even after 11pm- no getting a quiet sleep here), in the pool and gym area making a huge mess and long lines for the elevators with the children going up and down constantly. If youre coming here to relax dont bother it will be impossible. The walls are paper thin and you hear children screaming, running, slamming doors the entire time. Now onto the bigger issue which ruined the experience altogether. My boyfriend forgot his coat hanging in the closet. We didnt realize for 4 days because the weather changed he was wearing a different jacket, but once he wanted to wear it and couldnt find it we immediately went back in our steps and realized it was at the hotel. Upon contacting the hotel the staff said nothing was brought in the lost & found. I asked if the room could be checked now, perhaps it was still hanging in the closet. The staff refused to check the room and said theres been other guests since we stayed and theres no way the cleaner would miss the coat when the room was cleaned after we checked out. I agreed there is no way the coat would be missed and blaming other guests after us is irrelevant since the cleaner would have been the first one in the room after us. So where did the coat vanish to? Staff rushed to get me off the phone. I spoke to the manager the next day who implied we dont know where we left the coat and was pretty useless. He asked for a description of the coat and said he would call me back and hasnt called back. Pay attention to the other google reviews another person just a month ago left a speaker behind and when he called immediately they claimed it couldn't be located. Anything you forget here is clearly stolen. No respect for their customers and very poor customer service. I expect much better service and honesty, especially at rooms at this price. I absolutely believe they stole the coat and did nothing to investigate this or try to help us. Save your money go somewhere else, this place is a...
Read moreCan’t believe this hotel is part of the Marriott group. My aunt was a loyalty member of the Marriott Hotel group. She came to visit us in Markham Toronto, so I recommended this hotel for her to stay because it was part of the Marriott group of hotels and the location was very convenient.
We heard it was recently renovated so it should be a pleasant place to stay. However, it was the exact opposite. She booked a handicap room for my Uncle with disabilities. The room did not even have all the items that a regular room should have (eg., complimentary bottled water, toilet tissue and box tissue). When she called the front desk to ask for these items, the girls at the front desk was extremely rude and not helpful. My aunt had to beg for them because the girl told her she wasn’t supposed to get any bottled water. The things she needed was delivered to room after a very long time.
Another ridiculous incident happened when my aunt asked the front desk to send someone to make her room. The front desk operator asked her if it was a must? Although we know that they do not offer room make up service on a daily basis, but that was the third day that they stayed there. And they actually stayed for a total of 1 week so, having their room cleaned on the third day wasn’t too much to ask for.
Actually, the handicap room did not have all the aids and support that a handicap room should have. For example, the shower was a bit high and the shampoo and soap detergent bottle dispensers were hanged at the back of the shower. It was very difficult for my uncle to reach and access.
The worst part of all was the hygiene of the room. My aunt saw a giant spider in the shower while she was taking her bath. This was totally unacceptable.
Hopefully, their management team can look into this matter seriously and make some improvements to their service and cleanliness of the room. Otherwise, we will never take the chance to stay there again and we will also share our bad experiences with...
