In my opinion, the introduction/welcome to a venue is crucial for that visitor to both return and/or have positive reviews. Out of all the venues in the area – I chose you to spend my money on. We arrived at 3pm as instructed when check-in would be. It was explained to us that our room was not ready yet. So after driving in a car for 4 hours – me and my family sat down and waited. There’s not a soul in sight keep in mind – it’s not like we were checking in with a rush of other people. After about 10-15min my wife inquired about the wait and the clerk just seemed agitated like why are we asking so soon. They explained to her the wait is due to so many checking out at noon. Okay but how is that our problem? Make your check out time earlier then if your establishment can’t handle the noon deadline. After 30min my wife checked with the front desk yet again to see what’s going on and the clerk was like “Oh sorry, your room was ready we forgot to inform you”. Again, keep in mind the lobby has been completely empty – they were not swamped at all. I do not know how you forget about the only party waiting in front of you for the last 30min. We were then notified from our bank our credit card was charged a lot more than what we were quoted on. My wife checked with the front desk and we were told this includes the deposit. Don’t get me wrong I understand the purpose of the deposit but please be professional in reminding this charge to guests. You should always always seek consent when making charges to a guest’s credit card. Again, it’s just being professional. So off to a great start right? Our room was decent – nothing outstanding. Overall design and layout of the rooms and hotel is a little outdated. I would say it’s a 2-3 star in quality. The pool is very small and is in great need of maintenance but that’s scheduled for the end of July 2024. It’s not a very lively hotel I will add. Like the lobby is decent; tons of seating available but it’s just always dead when walking through. A bartender falling asleep from no customers. The restaurant just completely vacant yet operating. The shower was very poor. Like I’m sorry it’s really bad. There’s no pressure to it and it just strikes me as very old. I will not stay at this location again purely based on the poor welcome/introduction. I would rather go somewhere where my business is valued enough to have me return. I’ll end on one positive note – it’s a great location. We were able to drive anywhere in no time and we actually had dinner both nights at Congee...
Read moreWe been to many hotels. My son now 8 gets in the last word and his reviews are the most important to me. We went to Toronto and was hoping for a great stay as we usually do when we go to any Hilton Hotels. Niagara falls, or in London. This stay started great. The manager was very pleasant and helpful in the beginning.
Our unpleasant journey started with the hot tub being closed and when I called 2 days before our check in, the person who answered the phone in the behalf of the Hilton Garden hotel told me that they were opened and even gave me the hours of operation . Front desk reminded me I had to call the hotel directly, I thought I did .
Then the pool was around 35 celcius and my son and his friends dive deep in the pool to find feces. Management said there wasn't any when they checked and at the same time my son developed hives on his body and had a fever. Management was only able to direct me to the nearest pharmacy.
I was surprised the beds were not as comfortable as the ones in London. In the double tree we felt like we were sleeping on clouds.
The sink in the bathroom was clodded too when we got into our room but was fixed when I had to call 3x about it.
The first morning my son and I were unpleasantly awakened by the hotel alarm clock at 5 am. That was quite alarming.
The maid service came in our rooms while we were sleeping at 9:30 when check out time was at noon and the service lady said " we will come back later".
There were another negative situation with maintenance staff and the luggage cart too but I'm so tired in typing so much.
Mind you the customer services in the front desk were very nice and all they kept repeating was " we are sorry". I'm sorry that doesn't help me much.
Final note. Breakfast was the bestest experience we had. Debbie was very courteous and patient with us and the kids. Service was superb and the hot breakfast was delicious and a big portion too. I would give 6 stars for Debbie and the chef on the Thursday morning.
My son says he " hates this hotel".
I'm not a hater but we go to hotels to get away, relax and be as stress free as possible. Almost all of our visit here I was very stressed. I actually had to spend another $180 to go to a spa to get away from a get away and to relax.
Thank you for giving me the opportunity to...
Read moreThis was the best hotel that we stayed in during our trip to canada. Considering the other hotels we stayed in are Marriott (Ottawa) and Hilton Fallsview (Niagara Falls) and the relatively neutral to disappointing stays we had in these 2 hotels, this relatively more affordable uptown Toronto Hotel is absolutely wonderful. In the lobby, there is free hot caffeinated and decaf coffee on offer during most hours of the day, hot water as well as tea bags are also on offer with a large selection of sugars/sweeteners and cups with caps. This simple addition made all the difference as the water tap eliminated the need to buy a big bottle of water outside as well as solved my family's daily coffee fix. In the room, there are 2 bottles of complimentary water that is replenished daily unlike Hilton Fallsview's abhorrent 2 bottles per stay policy. These 2 bottles of daily water saved us the trouble of having to look for a convenience store in Uptown Toronto, absolutely wonderful. The room looks and feels newly renovated with most of the equipment working properly save for a lightbulb malfunction, which the staff gladly fixed and a swift manner. The bed was comfortable, pillows are great and the lamps provided ample brightness in the absence of a main light. The toilet and shower was squeaky clean and is organized well. Our stay was not without incidents though, other than the burnt out light bulb, we also hand an incident where we accidentally spilled a box of cereal over the desk and the carpeted floor, experienced a false fire alarm (firemen were on scene) and the shower head that broke off from the bolt. All of these incidents were handled promptly and responsibly by staff with a good attitude. During the false fire alarm, when questioned, the staff were very clear with their directions and the issue was promptly resolved. It's location next to Highway 7 with multiple locations for food (very local chinese food) and easy access transport (Line purple to RHC transfer to HWY 407 station via #40 GO bus into downtown is very convenient) is also amazing for tourists without a car. Overall, amazing stay....
