Port-O-Call Inn & Suites — Hotel in Nanaimo

Stay away! This place is not as nice as the pictures put it out to be. My partner and I stayed here for a total of 7 nights. We picked here because it was cheap and close to the local town. |I will post positives and negatives below ||Negatives ||- This place is a motel, not a hotel. The rooms open out into the public. There is no lobby or sitting area. ||- The whole complex, including rooms are outdated.||- The rooms have stains on the walls and bedding.||- The outdoor garden area looks lovely on the photos, but in reality looks like a run down construction site. ||- There is currently a large building being built next door, which wasn't described to us when booking. The workers started using machinery around 7-8 am everyday. ||- The rooms are not sound proof. Considering the hotel is on a very busy road in Nanaimo, this disturbed our stay. ||- The car park gets very busy in the evening. We sometimes struggled to find a space. I don't know whether they don't have enough spaces for people staying or the public use it too because it is free. ||- You can hear everything going on in the room next to you and I mean EVERYTHING. To the point where people were banging on other doors shouting at people to be quiet. ||Positives ||- The Location is very good. It's around 4 mins from the ferry and 5-10 from the town centre. It is also close to highways linking to Parksville and Port Alberni.||- The staff members in reception were always nice to me, even when I was complaining about the room.||OVERALL||I would not recommend anyone stay here unless they need a place for 1 night. We booked for 3 nights. Got there and checked in everything seemed fine, we got our room and checked it. Everything was good then we went out for dinner and came back to find our room completely crawling in bed bugs, they were on the floor, the wall, the nightstand, the curtains. Literally everywhere..the whole motel is probably infested. We called the front desk told them the situation and they said they would contact the manager, the manager said to give a full refund after they tryed to give us another room and we said no. We left with our damage deposit we put down of 100$ and were told it would take 2-3 days for expedia to release the refund because that's how we booked, we waited till Monday phoned back and were told to contact Expedia and that if normally takes 7-10 days for them to release the refund so we did and they said they have no access to their the port-o-calls systems and that port-o-call had to issue the refund. I phoned back explained the situation again they are trying to say the refun has been issued and that we should have it but i keep saying we dont havw it and didnt get it and was told a manager would phone me and they never did then I phoned back after the weekend to again be told the manager would contact me and nothing. It has been 12 days and we still don't have our 352.35$ that is rightfully owed to us!!!!! Looks like we will be making a trip from comox to nanaimo just to get our refund back.

This is our first time booking a motel on our own and please do NOT make this mistake and book this hotel. It is run down, sketchy, unreliable and disgusting!! The rooms do not look like anything in the photos they have...

Worst experience ever😡 Baseboard in the bathroom didn’t work and the heat lamp didn’t even have a bulb in it. The heat for the room was a digital baseboard with no instructions. I had to google how to set the temperature.... good thing I have data on my phone because the wifi didn’t work either. The batteries in the remote Control for the tv were dead, and the other remote would only turn the tv on and off. There was also exposed wiring around the outlets as at least two were missing the cover plate. While trying to figure out the baseboard heater I also found multiple items left behind by other guests, confirming that It was not cleaned properly. The most frustrating part is that when I brought the items I found down in the morning and voiced my concerns the manager was completely unconcerned and indifferent. She told me I was lucky to have a room because I couldn’t get one at travel lodge.... completely untrue I never tried to get a room at travel lodge but it obviously would have been a better choice. If I could rate this hotel zero stars I would because it doesn’t deserve ANY.... and the manager is the WORST I have EVER dealt with and that says a lot because I travel for work.
