This inn is neither fantastic (as the ratings suggest) or horrible. It is decent enough for an overnight stay but based off my experience not much more.
Pros: -Fantastic location for the ferry. -Located directly across from a lovely harbour. -Check in was friendly and quick. -Room was relatively functional and clean. -Comfortable bed. -BBQ for guests to use.
Cons: -Booked a sea view room which I didn’t receive (not that big of a deal as we arrived shortly before sunset and wouldn’t have been able to enjoy the view) -Expected a full kitchen but received a kitchenette instead (fortunately we had burgers to cook for dinner, not something that required the oven we were expecting). -The frying pan in the kitchen appeared to be dirty, however it was so badly burned and stained it couldn’t be throughly cleaned. -The kitchen sink leaked which the inn obviously knew about as there was a large bowl underneath the sink to catch the drips. -Had to use a bathroom towel for the dishes as there was no dish rack or tea towel. -The BBQ for guests to use was in an area without lights so my husband found it difficult to judge when the burgers were cooked. He also said the utensils at the BBQ were filthy (fortunately he took the ones from the kitchen with him). -The bathtub appears to have...
Read moreMy husband had stayed here and liked it, and the proprietors said next time he should book direct, rather than through Expedia, and they'd give him a discount. So when I was going to Nanaimo he phoned, and the discount they offered was $1 - one dollar! - off their website price. I wouldn't have booked it, but he did. On the plus side, the bed was comfortable and the room was very clean. But. The pillows were uncomfortable--too big. I was kept awake by the thundering hippos upstairs (not the fault of the Buccaneer) and then awakened by traffic noise at 4:30 a.m. | Lots of hotels now have a Keurig or similar that makes good coffee; the coffee here was not good, and instead of UHT milk or similar, there was powdered Coffeemate. Yuck. There was an ironing board and iron but no blow-dryer for hair. No outlet in the bathroom. Tiny bathroom. And the fan, which came on automatically when the light was turned on, sounded like a jet engine. I could have had a decent stay in spite of all those things if I could have had a good cup of coffee in the morning, but no. Please! Buy some Keurigs and better white stuff!| There didn't seem to be much concern for the customer. For the same price I could have stayed at another place with all the amenities, two queen beds, and...
Read moreOlder motel. Love the Sea theme. Was looking for the pretty flowers boxes as in photos, but there were none. Microwave in a very awkward spot. Up high in the farthest corner on your right. Awkward to work with being so short! Garden needs work, been ignored for too long. Fence is rotting with mould on it. Windows are inferior with condensation in between glass and frames broken. Lights don't work too well in living room. Other than that, I would love to stay here again! Quite clean, other than shower curtain, and has everything you could need. I really liked the suite I was in. Next time would like an ocean view though. Nice staff. Pretty quiet. Noisy people came in late 2nd night was there and stomped around until 2 am upstairs I truly liked staying there though, just letting you know what could be improved. Electricity is from an old fuse box and needs upgrading as a fuse blew. Ok, will stop now! Thank you for making my...
